I've searched around the site and found a bit of information, but nothing that is really consolidated or thorough.

I'm wondering as someone who played the TT version a bit over 10 years ago but never really got into the lore about factions and what choices individuals might need to make.
  • Will this playable simply as a log-in, do some pew-pew, and then log out game?
  • What are the advantages of aligning with a faction?
  • What are the responsibilities of aligning with a faction?
  • Is there someplace on the site that a noob like me can get all of this information?

The reason why we don't have any community warfare info is because there really isn't any out there. I'm personally pretty skeptical that they'll meet even 1/5 of the community warfare goals they have set.

With a sad heart i agree with this statement.

The only thing keeping me around right now is my expectations for community warfare if done poorly I am out, and not one more penny will i spend on this game until community warfare is out.

I do agree that they need to start filtering down more info on these kinda subjects. I understand why they're so tight lipped (We are planning this and that, then players whine and groan because it wasn't exactly as planned) but they really are at the point, in my opinion, that they need to start filtering down a little more info.

Yeah, I did find that. Almost a year old, that post is. Unfortunately and like most communication from the devs, it opened more questions than it answered. Guess I'll sit and wait. I'm having fun just running around shooting stuff right now.

but you're pretty skeptical about every aspect of this game and have pretty much disliked every single thing they've done or changed.

Things are coming. It is going to be a while before we get some hard info since they have so much work to do.

Netcode fixes, weapon balancing, C3 integration, improved chat, fix/balance match maker, etc...

... more game modes and maps, robust lance command ...

A lot of this really needs to be in place before Faction Warfare hits the streets.

well part of it is they have so many warfare options that noone knows what is what to be honest. I don't blame them for being tight lipped but at the same time it would be nice to have little tidbits of clarification on future game options. This would do several things.
  • Alleviate some of the "grind" and wariness players are running into playing the same thing for hours on end
  • Keep players excited about upcoming content which in turn builds player base
  • Give us something to speculate on
  • Give some of those feeling burnt out on the game a revitalization to continue playing
  • A good majority of the player base (my opinion) is in a holding pattern on spending until they see the next installment of content besides alternate maps and new mechs
  • Would help build the community as a whole
I just think it would be good for the community in general to add a little "zest" to things.

IM here for the community warfare too.  But lets give them time to work on the things we have now, and the things in the immediate pipeline. Im sure they have ideas on what they would like implemented. But lets get Matchmaking into a  something close to final implementation before we get too far ahead of ourselves.

THE OTHER THING TO BEAR IN MIND IS IF THE PUGS COMPLAIN NOW ABOUT HOW TEAMS DOMINATE THE GAME. HOW ARE THEY GOING TO FEEL WHEN IN COMMUNITY WARFARE tEAMS HAVE A DIRECT  IMPACT ON THE META GAME, FAR MORE THAN ANY INDIVIDUAL PUG CAN HAVE.

I'm not saying this should be a priority to work on at this point but some new info would definitely be a good thing

pretty sure if they screw up CW, everyone will quit. That was the major selling point for the game for most people.

December issue of pcgamer mentions quite a bit actually. For example, Houses will fight together for border planets, and Merc Corps will fight in the periphery, hired by houses on a low-bid sort of mechanic.

I think casual players would care a lot more about just having fun, fairly even games, than the suggested metagame.

Yes, but again this is old news at this point. I just think it would be nice to begin filtering in tidbits and info. Don't give it all away but you can slowly start to leak new info on new fronts. I really think one of the thigns "seething" a bit in the community is simply rehashing old subjects and no matter HOW many times they say they're addressing them they jsut keep getting multiple threads dedicated to them

PCGamer didn't give us anything we didn't already know from the initial dev post about community warfare. PGI and IGP probably just forwarded the same dev post to PCGamer.

It does seem to outline a lot but it didn't seem incredibly solid. Maybe it's just because I haven't really seen or heard anything else on the subject. Seems to me that it would be one of the big things to get into the game ASAP. Obviously to be tweaked with everything else, but that's a big part of the game (in theory) that we have yet to see yet.

The command and info warfare were big ones too. I mean what we're playing feels similar to MW4 is a lot of ways...and then one day your Command standing behind some rocks minding his own business is supposed to get exploded by artillery fire directed by a UAV hanging overhead. Should have an impact on game-play.
