I've played about 30 matches, and have been reading guides till I'm blue in the face, but there's a couple things I'd like to know.

What determines turn rate? Is it based on mech class, (ie. light, medium, heavy, assault)? Engine power to weight ratio?

If I'm shooting someone, and their armor is glowing from my shots, am I really hitting him, or is it possible that I'm missing from lag, but it's showing me hitting? I ask this because there's been a couple times where I'm blasting the snot out of a mech with no arm for what seems like forever, yet he doesn't die. PS. I keep targeting the area where his missing arm is too.

Last, do all weapons spread their damage out over a certain amount of time? For instance, firing a laser, you have to keep it on target for the duration. Or, are their weapons that do all their damage instantly to one spot?

Thanks in advance.

1) Yes. Engine power to weight ratio, essentially. Basic perks also enhance this in the Pilot Lab.

2) Yes, it's very possible your hits are missing due to lag. Netcode is particularly bad in this current build of the game. This is especially an issue when trying to hit Light Mechs.

3) Lasers are the only damage/time weapons. Ballistics hit where they hit, as do missiles.

Turn rate as far as I can tell is based on the mech/engine and then improved by skills, not 100% sure... Your shots showing that they are hitting means they are hitting, however you might be at an extreme range for the weapon so it is doing next to no damage. Lasers, Ballistic Weapons, and Missles all do damage in their own way, with ballistic doing direct damage to one location.

To check if you hit, watch your crosshairs and arm-circle.. if it goes red, you hit.

Helps especially when you're sniping in heat vision.

The one and only source you should use to confirm if something hit is the damage indicator that comes up when you select a mech.
