Crysis Warhead is required to play the current iteration (5.4) of MW:LL (the stand alone 'expansion' to original Crysis - which is not needed. Crysis Warhead comes with a seperate disc 'Crysis Wars' which features enhanced MP netcode).

Hi to the VR's - looking professional. If I weren't such a loner I would be tempted to ask for an invite - I've played infrequently with some of you in MW:LL pubs.

Are you guys expecting any issues with the use of the 12thVR "IP"?

Do you mean how the Developers of MWO have said certain units will be 'off-limits' to players. Not really, I think they will try to keep that to a minimum, and plus, the Rangers aren't exactly pivotal to the Inner Sphere's history, at least from my perspective.

Yeah. The reason I ask you guys is because i believed I would recieve a reasonable response. And I have - and I agree - less 'pivotal' (not less important) than say Dragoons, Kell Hounds etc.. and various 'clans' - <smirk>.

Just interested (in your perspective on the phenomena). Tks.

We haven't run into any real trouble honestly. The 12thVR was active in the MW community as a seperate unit before we started it up for MWLL "ie old-school Rangers :D " If they or others want to use the 12thVR unit name, we'll work with them. It's not like we own exclusive rights to the name or anything.

On being a loner, actually that's why we created this variation of the 12thVR. It's a very casual unit in MWLL, if you can make it to games, great, if not that's cool too. Pubs are one thing, but org games can bring a different level of excitement. I don't know if you follow some of our threads in MWLL, but we just like to have fun, and for some reason the mod has fun with us resulting in the oddness that it seems like our units tend to go critical WAY more often during battle. Hence the mushroom cloud in some of unit insignia's

I'll try not to blag on too long in you recruitent thread. I'm well aware of the 12thVr's penchant for sharing the love on your crits :D - and have always found the gereneral irreverance to to be apealing.

I do agree with the added level of enjoyment from coordinated teamplay, my only prob has been reliance on TS - as the pc is situated in a main living area w/ background noise from tv etc. If you can deal with this I would consider it an honour to be considered once this gets rolling.

Thanks for the response 'A-Cat' and 'Square'.

Ps. Gave MWLL a rest fo a few patches - I played avidly since 1.0 but the lag issues associated w/ non west-coast pop base (along with huntresses' ping cap - I'm Australian) got too much. Currently 'WoT' is my time sink.

Nice Hart.

And hOUND, we actually have 2 Kiwis and an Aussie in the unit. Also 0.5.5 came out today, so you might want to check it out again. ;)

Tks Alpha, I have updated - just seems a lot of servers have ping capped around 250. I fall just outside of that range due to Australia's east coast (Syd, Melb) acting as a buffer zone (adds about 20) for those in Adl.

There's a tourny running over at MWLL. We drew KOS in the 1st bracket, KOS took the 1st round, second round went to the 12th, and then KOS clenched it in the third round.

We're off to the Losers Bracket, so we still have a chance at redemption.

I'll have to post round 3 later...seems the forum doesn't like multiple post with media in a short period of time...

Vegan as in "from" the planet (or system) Vega

Not at all related to crunchy granola leaf eaters :)

Here's an MWO twist on a recruitment poster I did for MWLL. Been playing with the camo for this but just haven't been happy so far, so for now a nice Olive drab (might have to look at some non-standard 12th VR colors) 1920x1080

Okay Rangers, word has come down that we will be needing a new name...

View PostBryan Ekman, on 03 May 2012 - 11:18 AM, said:

Alright... long overdue, much distraction in between.

Players will NOT be able to claim canon units as their own. When it comes to Mercenary Units/Corps/Companies, these names will not be available during MC creation. Trying to circumvent the naming system will result in the Merc Corp being renamed/denied.

Faction units are being handled slightly different. When a player aligns themselves with one of the major factions, say House Kurita, they will have the opportunity to join famous house units as the rank up by earning loyalty points. Some house units will require additional feats of excellence and challenges to achieve before membership is granted. Since these units are not run by the players, and we can reserve/restrict access to very active/famous units for sake of preserving the BattleTech timeline.

Our general stance on player run merc units is simple - create your own legacy! It's very unfair for players to stake ownership over a canon unit, and creates a host of politic and pr issues. So we're avoiding the complexities and edge cases associate with players assuming the role of these units and encouraging you to forge your own destiny.

This is our launch POV. As always, we listen to your feedback and ways to improve the system.
