Since most games are going CD'less such as MWO, Star Trek Online, EvE, etc, owning a CD/DVD drive is becoming pointless but it looks like i'm still going to need one anyway in order to use install CDs for my motherboard, GPU and other parts.

So when it comes to shopping for a CD/DVD drive, anything special that i should be looking out for?

So far these are the features i already know i need it to do:
CD/DVD/CDR/DVDR+-/HD(or blue ray, not sure which one i should go for)

So far this is my current choice(if i go the blue ray route)...any ideas on what would be a better choice?

Not sure if this is a factor but i do plan on playing 3D and/or regular DVD movies with this drive so that i don't have to purchase a separate DVD player(i plan on using my Monitor as a regular TV as well)

Samsung SH series are quite nice, and great pricing.

I've heard good things about ASUS as well, but never used any myself.

Also LG. When it comes to stuff like that they're typically solid.

Don't spend over $25 before S&H and tax.

Confirm that it's not some cheap old model lying around that is still IDE. You want it to be SATA, because motherboards have been phasing out IDE connectors. (This is unlikely to be an issue, but just better safe than sorry)

Fancy features don't really mean jack ****, 'cause you'll never use them.
