One of the best parts about playing the old mechwarrior games was picking up a sweet piece of equip. that you didn't have access to otherwise.. in mech commander it was finding out if a mission brought you any clan chassis..

Salvage is part of battletech.

So lets bring it into MWO.

Suggestion:

Salvage values as a function of post game rewards become a method of purchasing clan mechs and gear (when implemented)
Lets be honest:
clans attack! and on the first day everyone spends cbills to pilot a madcat..
kind of odd.. but everyone will have their cash built up by the time the clan expansion hits.. so adding a salvage function will make those early mech pickups special

BUT.. if you can build up "salvage rights" .. and the completion of missions may bring you an offer from your employer:

"salvaged vulture available for xx salvage rights and yy cbills (or zz mc)"

you have something to anticipate with each battle..

and no.. everyone doesnt need the same offer, nor would my offer come at the expense of you not getting one.. it'll be account based and not visible to others in game anyway..

no, they dont have to be mechs from the fight.. we assume that your goodwill with the employer is how you got the offer:

"These mechs were salvaged by the Heavy Gaurd as we were pulling out, Im authorized to give you a crack at them"

maybe this is how you plan to implement faction points.. great

I just feel there should be a game function towards earning access to clan equipment.. instead of making it an easy buy.
(yes.. MC can buy you easier acces.. i have no problem with piranha paying their bills)
