Have all the tro's, sheet books, novels, source books, merc handbooks, etc on pdf

what is sarna and why would I use it when I have all the books and hard copies of all the new books plus the programs to make mechs, vehicles, aeros, naval and even maps

Not really an encyclopedia cause I do not have a photographic memory, only know where to find the info I need and determination to not give up once I start looking.

Good to see DC and Davion going at it on the forums, and not even in RP forum. I say only arm the well read guy who nailed the source(s) from the novel. If we arm the other two, we'd have to arm all lazy retreads otherwise it wouldn't be far. Oh, wait... that IS what we are doing here. Um, good job, carry on!

At one time I could tell you the weight and just about anything you wanted to know about Mechs. I was the tactical officer in many of the TT units

I see a problem here. The op clearly assumes "canon" refers to the history of the Houses and Inner Sphere at large. I hope you realize the Clans are a very massive chunk of the "canon" of Battletech, Quiaff?

Nope, at the date we start there is no such thing as the Clans so they cant very well be "canon" then can they? :(

The greatest problem with people claiming intimate knowledge of "canon" is when they disagree. They can't both be right. And never rely on the Sarna wiki to win you an argument, because all of the information there has been filtered through the contibutors. It's useful & easily accessible, but when you start arguing over trivia, go to the original sources. Or ask the Wiiogre & I to look it up for you.

There's also a lack of consensus about what is & is not "canon". A good example: the Battlemaster IIC. I'd say it's in, because it stars in a FASA novel & a Catalyst Games PDF. It's the poster boy for a historical event. Others say it isn't, because in was never in a Technical Readout book & uses non-standard tech.

The Clans have existed for centuries in the canon timeline.

The official recordsheet (from the turningpoints PDF) ID's that Battlemaster as a BLR-1G with Clan weapons, so it is not a Battlemaster IIC.

Been writing a novel (for catharsis rather than any notions of becoming published) so I'd like to think I have a decent knowledge of the BT universe...

But only as a general history and some specifics on the era I'm writing about.
