Anyway, to try to disable shadowns I got a cleaning in all CVarGroups and made the others missing archives like below, and put .cfg code directly inside sys_spec_Full.cfg. But I got a ~5 fps increase. I think that is because like sys_spec_VolumetricEffects.cfg and others are missing in BladeXXL config pack. Can you get a look into this?



"Missing" are not used by MWO:

sys_spec_VolumetricEffects
sys_spec_Quality
sys_spec_Water

adding e_Shadows = 0 to user.cfg should make it!



btw: PATCH IS STILL OBLIGATORY!

Anyone know which variables affect weapons FX, especially laser beams.

I use betocorps config and get good FPS, but the weapons FX are very thin. I would like to push them a bit.

I made 2 changes to his.
for lazers

r_beams = 3

for glow on damage effect

r_glow = 1

A few tweaks

to improving particle effects

e_ParticlesQuality = 1
e_ParticlesLights = 1
e_ParticlesMaxScreenFill = 32
e_ParticlesMinDrawPixels = 2.5
e_ParticlesMotionBlur = 0
e_ParticlesObjectCollisions = 1
r_UseParticlesHalfRes = 1
r_UseSoftParticles = 1

e_ParticlesMinDrawPixels - enlarging this number increases the size of the particles. PPC shots, laser beams, smoke.

e_ParticlesMaxScreenFill - this appears to lower/raise the size lower = smaller, higher, more detailed/larger

finding a good balance between these 2 can improve the appearance of these effects on any machine.
r_UseSoftParticles = 1 setting this to 0 will help performance.

r_DetailDistance = 0 can also really help performance.

some tweaks of use can be found here

adjusting d3d9_TextureFilter = trilinear/bilinear/linear can also greatly help performance.

e_vegetation_static_instancing = 1 or 0

e_hw_occlusion_culling_objects = 1 or 0

1 = on, 0 off, on should help low end rigs.

I've swapped my ancient Core 2 Duo E8200 with Core 2 Quad Q9550 for $99 (same motheboard) a month ago and have much better framerates overall.


Been thinking about doing this for a few weeks now, just ordered a Core 2 Quad Q8200(was an E2160), next gonna get me a cheap GPU upgrade(currently a 9800 GTX overclocked).
Not willing to spend any more than £100 on both, as this system was given to me for something to use while here(working away).
Once xmas is out of the way i can then start thinking about building a system for this awesome game.

Thanks for the reply, didnt know that, so other thing gave me more FPS.

My file always have e_Shadows = 0 and now didnt work.

Noted that e_VegetationSpritesDistanceCustomRatioMin, e_VegetationSpritesDistanceRatio, e_WaterOceanFFT, r_Rain (I think that is it for the snow), cant be desabled/reduced like earlier patch.

I think that this patch bugged some code is my .cfg, will make a clean reinstall and test again, but is playable like 70% perf pre 20th patch.

Thank you man with your cfg game is playable again. However I don't understand why when i try to turn off r_HDR* or some shading options game sets all options on low, identically to my options tab(in my attributes.xml all settings turned to low like OptionCfg.sys_spec_* = 1)
I have BladeXXL patch installed without any modifications.

Thanks for posting the attributes and .cfg file. I have to put the attributes all down to 0, but then coupled with your config, I am getting ~20 FPS on all Maps - as opposed to ~12 w/out postpatch.

I am just insecure whether me setting attributes to 0 in the .xml does anything at all anymore, whether I should go and use blades's patch with your config...I simply dont know anything about this tweaking you guys are doing, have so far gone with what I could copy out of this thread and worked for me, and got anjoyable results overall.

p.s.: Some cfg mention an ATI MSAA fix....what is it, and how do I know whether I better enable it?

do we have a new uber low user config with shadows off now? Do sys spec still have to be -1?
having animated shadows is obviously doing me no good right now and the game is unplayble for me at present..
This is from an avg of 50fps with a low end user congfig.

Check this out guys..... I hit 20 fps all low, all highest with blurs n' all hit bout 17-18fps. hardly any differ with all bells and whistles or none.
Im a frame per sec fanatic we can go back to polygons or the wireframe image enhancment of mech2. ;)

On this thread I discovered the attributes.xml. and there it caught my eye....the resolutions 1024 x 768..... so what did I do?

I changed my resolution to 640 x 480 ! :lol:

Now gettin in i get 30 frames but still drops crazy with action.

Has me lil convinced its not the systems.

I cant get in trouble for low res huh? :ph34r:

Some. I am still getting drops to 9 FPS at worst, generally 14 FPS when turning the mechs travel vector with a/d, but no fps problems otherwise.

Generally though it does play better, but mainly the file is to tinker with if you have some idea what you are doing.

They screwed something again, game is unplayable. I'll wait for new patch. With your new cfg I got this on game startup :

this seems to lower my fps by 10... - 20.. down to 40-50 fps on just the opening screen.

I found that setting all of my visual settings for windows to "Adjust for Best Performance" gave a boost. Windows doesn't look as good but would be easy to switch on and off for play time.

THIS is really helpfull Information for me ;). Means I can use some unused parts I have lying around to rebuild a machine which is able to run the game satisfactory. With all the Problems going on reported by people on multiple different Satups, I was totally insecure what to aim at. Did ypi grab the E0 stapping? And where TH did you get it for 99$ ?

So Ill pull that old Asus Board out, replace the CPU, give it some RAM and maybe invest a bit in another Graphicscard '( the box im using has severe powerrestrictions ) and see whats happening then :).
