It will make the learning curve and getting used to the game MUCH easier and any questions you have can generally be answered very quickly.

The biggest public teamspeak server is the Comstar EU one at 109.228.29.191
Anywhere from 150 to 350 people on at a time getting groups dropping together and helping new pilots.

The forums here are terrible and you should go to teamspeak to meet real, helpful people. You can expect lot's of fun.
But seriously these forums have more whine then the Arbor Mist factory.

1) Expect horribly long unlock grinds unless you pay money.(Usually the case for F2Ps)
2) Expect horribly bad W/D ratios in Trials. Trials have poor configurations, no AMS, no upgrades, and poor heat management. They really fail at being competitive. They will fail slightly less after the incoming heatsink change... but not enough to write home about.
3) Expect horribly bad W/D ratios(Or extra, rather?) with solo queues until they put actual matchmaking in. Currently premades have this game handed to them like a giant cake at a fat kid's birthday party. Solo queuing sucks. It really sucks. Don't expect to win often doing it.(Especially in Trials)

May be a troll, may just be new. Insulting him is one way to make sure that if he is new, he will be less apt to stay. At least there were some helpful post before yours if he was new. Could be like me. I had planned to play this game most of the day, but after playing it, watching the forum flame wars has been far more fun then playing the game. Betas are all about finding problems before release, but it doesn't seem that many want to hear what the new influx of beta testers have to say. If it is a point that has been beat into the ground previously by the closed beta testers and not fixed, it is hardly the new beta tester's fault. Their feedback on the beta is just as valid as any founder's feedback on his/her beta experience. Not all of these new trolls are new trolls.

Here's all you need to know Rook,
Get in a trail raven, run to the front of a mech, don't worry about getting knocked down there is no collision.
Fire your weps a bunch of times. Your mech should get hotter than my ********* after a spicy burrito dump
You'll see some thermal warning bull flashing, u can just ignore that jive, still plenty of time to dance.
It's just the awesome meter telling you your about to climax a wad of hot gooey win sauce.
Once that erupts, your mech will need a nap.
It will shut down at this point and you'll face the most crucial decision of the game.
Do you hit esc and leave your bro's or do u lock'n load, put on your big mech pants and go back for sloppy seconds?
Either way you'll just be repeating this process for 20 years or until you find out about Tribes.
