IMO, the ones you pay for MC should always be available permanently for you to swap it on any other mech you have, just like the pcgamer skin.

While I wouldn't go so far as this, I would find it reasonable that the custom skins you pay MC for are stored as optional skins for all variants of one chassis.

Have you never heard of painting your miniatures or unit or personal paint schemes? Its pretty hard to see a common mech without finding it in 5 different colors schemes because that just how things work in BT, you find a mech and you paint it. It's not about wanting to put pony decals on my mech for lulz or standing out, its about making me pay for a very basic part of the BT experience.

Again this is going to be one of the primary ways to finance the game and is not new at all to the F2P model.

Would you rather they made certain "OP" weapons MC only? How about DHS or Endo? Making cosmetic and vanity items cost money, as well as premium is the only way they can fund the game long run. While I understand why you want to make all your mechs your TT unit, it's simply not something they can do for free.

Oh, I didn't realize that the paint system was the the last savior for MWO. Does this mean we all get premium bonuses, have as many hangers as we damn well please, and you can't buy mechs or convert experience with MC anymore? I'm starting to think I'm being nickeled and dimed like a chump.

Again you fail to see the big picture. Cosmetics are a major money maker for F2P games. You aren't being nickel and dimed as you can play just fine without spending anything. Further there were going to be free skins like they mentioned.

Oh for the love of, what else do you expect them to sell? Premium and mechbays, sure. After that they have very little left that they can make MC only without it being pay to win. Something has to make the money, cosmetics are the best choice because it doesn't ruin the gameplay when the enemy is willing to spend way more money than you are.

There's a tactical advantage right there.

I may understand complains about the cost of mechs in MC, i may understand compalins about the game issues but I totally don't understand complains about having to pay for cosmetic changes. It's this or golden weapons/armour.

Hmm, at first i was kind of worried about that as well. After reading the thread and thinking about it though i guess the problem goes much deeper.

It seems like i simply dislike the free to play scheme.

Lets compare a little: you buy a game and thats it. This means that while the initial purchase may hurt a little if you dont have a job (or have 4 kids lol). But after that you get to enjoy the full game for as long as you like. The developer can be on your side as well... he has already been paid and can now turn his full attention to making the game better or work on the sequel.

With F2P it seems like the developer has to work against players at least some of the time. He has to invent all this wonderfull stuff, implement it, and then withold it from you until you pay a little. Then comes the next little thing that you have to buy as well..

You also get less out of your money (imho). If you bought MW4, that was it. You got all the mechs, could configure them as you liked, blablabla. Now lets invest the same amount of money into MW:O.. You get a handfull of variants, a little cash or some Hangar bays. Whatever you buy, its still only a part of the full game. Maybe one time when im really bored at work i will figure out how much it would be to really buy the "whole game" in cash. *edit* looks like someone else already did a part of this work: credit to MouseNo 4
http://mwomercs.com/...rice-for-mechs/

So.. TL/DR i guess:

If you find yourself getting mad about having to pay for paint jobs and cockpit clutter it may be not the fault of PGI.. it may be that you dislike the business model.

I'm fine paying MC for this, but I'm just very disappointed we're not buying colors or scheme sets, but rather permanent skins. I would like to change between a couple skins for different environments or situations. I feel like there's more incentive to buy colors and patterns rather than individual paint jobs.

S!

I would pay MC for skins that are done for Mechs, for example a House skin for Centurion or similar as I believe they had different color toning/patterns? That way it would be easy for people to show their affiliation. Mercs were more non-standard I guess. So MC for skins that can be put on Mechs and switched. CB for these "easy to make" ones..or something

I really wish this game wasn't f2p model. I like the old expansion pack model better

A dream of the past... As a very old school gamer, trust me when I say there are plenty of things I wish that had never changed, But what can you do... adapt and keep playing!

Yes! All the arts MUST be MC only.
This is how F2P model works and personally I like it.

I would gladly pay for cool camo skins (like MLP ^^) or nose art.
This is working fine, no need to cry here.

With the Skins i am happy with buying a skin with MC, only pity it's going to be per mech, rather than buying a skin that can be moved around like the bobbleheads/fairy

Also its quite funny that you pay money for something that you cant see for yourself (until they implement 3rd person view..).

Reminds me of this scene (dude wheres my car):

I already wonder how fast I can get each Mech with the ingame currency. Sure Teamgames, Premium Time, Founder Mech helps but still. Beta is less than one week alive and I've an assault mech on elite without spending MC.

I'm absolutely fine with how it works in moment. My biggest problem is that I want this game successful! Successful means the people needs to get payed, otherwise they can't do this anymore.

my only question on this is do i have to pay just to change the color of a camo to make it look better? (in my case the PC gamer skin looks bad on an atlas in it's current colors)

Yeah I would prefer to pay for patterns instead of schemes. That way you can change the color layout.
