I did.

I decided DHS at 1.4 made the Awesome I had be leveling unsupported since it will lose heatsinking and it's always been too hot to run an Assault-level config. I can run almost the same thing in a Medium or trade some weapons for the manuverability of a Light so I am using a Jenner now. I may try a Centurion later, but not the YLW because it lacks hardpoints for a medium.

The reason for the post is that I frequently see teams of over half Lights and Cicadas now and I didn't before DHS 1.4 was announced.

I'm waiting til tommorow to decide, If DHS makes my Atlas's nonviable i'll just quit til there fixed. I'm not piloting mech classes I don't care about.

1.4DHS and _PL heat fixes will likely make my Centurion non-viable, so I'm getting a kick, etc

If I can play a Assault with Single sinks I can play it with +40% sinks just fine. I only hate that the DEVs are nerfing em when we didn't even get them working at 100% yet.

.4 more heat dissipation at the cost of 2 more criticals? Good luck with that.

I pretty much agree with you here. I can't stand watching lights play after my Fatlas has been killed, its not my play style and I just can't see a mech going as fast as they do without a care in the world about running into things. No offence to light pilots as they do a good job, its just not what I like to do. I will send off a email to support asking for a DHS setup CBill refund also.

I gave up on the idea of building an AWS-8Q, if that counts. I hadn't actually bought it yet, but once I heard about DHS 1.4, I realized it wouldn't work. One volley would probably come close to shutting down the mech, if not actually shut it down. And waiting for the heat to dissipate would lower the DPS to such a low number that it isn't viable.

sadly it shelfs all my builds but gauss cat(dont have it now, but i will buy when i play next.) lrm boat(it was single hs anyway) and jenners. jenners are going to be the new bread and butter. gauss cats and lrm boats for support.

You will be lucky to fit half the amount of DHS as you would with SHS so you will actually dissipate LESS with DHS vs SHS. That's the problem everyone has. DHSs aren't upgrades anymore, they are downgrades.

nope it makes no difference to me... if anything it will improve my current build as I run endo steel, ff armour and dhs (i can only fit 2 external dhs) so I now go from 8 shs and 4 dhs = 16 to 12 dhs = 16.8

If you don't like DHS you can just opt not to use them rather than quit because you don't like the changes the devs are making in Beta... :(

This. I'm not too concerned about it.

I seems the devs would let use try 2x, but they've said about a trillion times that 1.4 wasn't necessarily the final number. So I guess the OP can go ahead and sell is Assault and then feel dumb when they change the numbers. It's still a work in progress and people are so short sighted.

Bottom line: If it turns into a big problem, the devs will reverse the conversion calculation. If you quit, your not helping fix the problem here. Stick with it, try out your mods and see what happens. There are plenty other variables that are getting changed that may also add/subtract from the impact of this change.

IF double sinks are 3 crits like I have been using for the last 20+ years on TT, I will be able to get upwards of 46 points of heat disipation (with a 400 rate engine). I have never had a single problem fitting double SInks. I may not always be able to put in all the sinks I want, but that is the balance of using them. I will not be told otherwise.

I would like to point out that there is no circumstance where your heat sinking ability will be reduced from it's current capacity. So if you are expecting some negative impact that will not be the case.

Of course that being said I don't generally run assault mechs anyway, because of their inability to run high heat weapons. I don't anticipate moving to them now.

my atlas rs has 42 heat sinks (single) if the full double was aloud, i would hit 44-46. how is that game breaking?

with dhs the way they are, i cant get anywhere near the 42, so why UPGRADE to dhs only to lose heat dissipation.

now my gauss primary mechs will all get better on the other hand, so its a strange toss up that will make the Gauss the must have weapon, more so than now.

This is still a buff for me and my assault, so no. If I stuck with my D-DC even after they made SRM6's scatter like frenchmen I'll be able to adjust to anything.

Dave - 42 heat sinks WOW. What are you doing some sort of 32kmph 4 er ppc build? In any case, DHS would never match HS at those extreme numbers anyway because you simply cant fit that many, so complaining about the mutliplication factor is pointless. Even at x2 efficiency, 21 DHS would be 63 crit slots.

If you run with 42 heat sinks the only way double heat sinks would be an upgrade is if they were something like x4 efficiency.

Well sadly were all not in Jenner's. I couldn't fit 2 of those upgrades on my Atlas let alone all 3, without gimping every single weapon system.
