Don't get this, there is no such thing as good sportsmanship in war. If the taliban said hey, U.S. Army you have waaay more guys then us today. Will you only send in 10 soldiers at a time, so we might have a chance? What do you think the response would be? Surrender or die.
Actually, you are incorrect. There is a thing in the US Armed Forces called the Code of Conduct. This isn't an optional thing, nor something that are 'guidelines', but as real as any law, and dictates how a Servicemember is expected to act at all times. Quite a few, if not all, militaries have such, and a breach of it is enough to bring the person before a Courts Martial. In short, certain conduct on the part of the combatants is considered criminal/dishonorable, and prosecuted if it is known.
The Taliban do not have this, and that is one of the core differences that set them as a group of armed criminals, and not a military organization. To the Taliban, all that matters is success, and any means used to that end are acceptable.
While you are correct in assuming that a real-world armed force will not ask politely for the enemy to please not use forces beyond what it has, there are two things that make this not relevant to MWO. First, this is a game of competition, not of war. If were one of war, then the devs would never have changed the drop system to make it 'fair', nor would they have done so many tweeks to make sure the battlefields were fairly equal to both sides.
Second, the players you fight are not your enemies. They are fellow gamers who share similar values and a desire for competitive gaming. You should not be treating them as enemies, but as opponents in a game that you play as well.
Battletech/MWO simulates war as a means of competition. However, war is not a game.
