There is too much emphasis on judging the relative value of a teammate in terms of damage done and killshots.

I usually do quite well in these catagories, but I know very well that there have been many instances when the difference between my surviving a dual with another assault and defeat has been in those assisting. The Hunchback pilot who held the line at cap while I lumbered up a snowbank toward the red team focusing him down was a hero even if he was outgunned and facing certain death. The Raven pilot who did fifteen damage on the Gauss Cat made the difference in my getting in the kill shot before the kitty could get his second shot. The Cicada who lost his armor fending off the lights from our misssile boat is the guy who really won the match for us.

In football the scores are made by the glory boys while the linemen get no attention. But those glory boys would be a squishy mess in the turf had those linemen not held the wall.

The stat board at the end of the match only tells a small part of the story. The most crucial stat by which to evaluate your teammate's performance is in the match win.

How do you evaluate your teammates? What is your measure of value?

There is some occasional ribbing after the scoreboard, but mostly just to tease because we all have "those" matches.

Mostly, though, with a victory comes congratulations for all regardless of kills/assists/damage done.

It seems every other match I can personally identify where myself or a teammate turned the tide for the battle simply by keeping enemies "tied up" while the remaining forces got the kills or capture.

How many times do you see three or four mechs chasing a single pilot around the map with reckless abandon? How often have you stood your ground, soaking up damage to your ultimate demise while your long range support whittled down the defenders to molten slag?

Do you get points for that? No. Do you get a Victory and thanks of your teammates? Hellz ya.

And when Community Warfare finally makes its way into our little universe will anything else matter?

You know the answer.

This thread. This thread a thousand times. A game does not come down to individual skill, but team mates finding their places together like pieces in a puzzle. Sure, one man can wind up ending the match with 6 or 7 kills, but it took the entire village to make that possible. Individual skill is nothing without a cooperative effort.
