always fun listening to you guys talk about all theses...learned so much about mw...i wanna play mw1-2mercs

There weren't any playable quad mechs in any of the video games due to technology restraints for the most part. They were mostly in Table Top and a few novels I think.

The only quad 'mech that interests me is the Tarantula. The problem with that one though is that it's super fragile. A 25 ton quad 'mech with an XL engine.... one solid shot takes it out, but at least it's fast and has jump jets.

i would like to see quads in ... fun tactics can revolve around them ..... as for all of the people saying how useless they are ... I wouldnt take one into an Urban setting ... but wouldnt sit in the cockpit of a Charger CHG1 under any condition

I think later in the games life, the devs should release a "Quadmech Invasion!" DLC pack (with that exact title) for 8$.
- Tarantula (light)
- Scorpion (medium)
- Barghest (heavy)
- Goliath (assault)

Anyone who doesn't want to reanact the Hoth scene from Star Wars V in a Goliath, or fly 250 meters in a Tarantula, is deluding themselves. Some kids may even pretend to drive Zoids. They would introduce some interesting new tactics, and a blue Scorpion or Tarantula crouching would probably be able to hide in a river without being seen. I give Quads 4 thumbs up! By the way, is there a heavy quad earlier then the Barghest? I'd like to have these by 3053.

I dont think Free2play game should have payable DLCs, but i would love seeing them Quads if not on release but on an update or something

Not quiet correct. In the Mechwarrior 2 imple for Playstation 1, the Tarantula was playable and it was one of the best mechs.

Hmm... recently tried out WoT, and i think devs should take a note of how they made Basic tanks vs Tank destroyers:
Tank destroyers dont have turrets like other tanks but still capable of moving the gun like 60-80 degrees cone or something, and giving quads ability to move sideways with the ability to slightly swivel their guns would surely make sense and in my opinion offset the disatvantage of no torso twisting.

I don't expect to see anything but bipeds for launch. Mechs with extra legs or arms will have to be specificly coded (damage model, hitboxes etc) and modeled, they will need new animation across terrain etc.

Too much work for a dev team already working on getting the game launched. Get the game out, have people loving it and spending enough money on it to warrant additional content and then ask.

The Snow Fox is a nice fast quad light. It is great for pass through runs or quick shoot and scoot scouting ops. A good fast quad makes a great hit and run light support/scout for any team.

Quads offer better better stability for heavy recoil weapons when standing still, as well as the lateral movement. Sounds good but the general move and fire stability would be compromised as the whole things rocks back and forth. Quads would be a better fire support platform for long ranged fire, like sniping and light artillery duty. The ability to lock onto a Narc beacon, fire, then sidestep to avoid long ranged return fire whilst still maintaining target lock, or move sideways back into cover from sniping, would be useful for a support player.

Its all about your own personal discipline's, its not for everyone and only a few people could master such a role. Lets face it, anyone can chuck missiles and gauss rifle shots across a battlefield, but I can see only a handful of people who would be damn good at it and earn themselves both a reputation and infamy by it.

I'd imagine such mech's would come in after a few months to a year, if they are considering them at all. It would be nice to see them, but saying that it would also be nice for a few people to be able to aquire the ultra rare Land Air Mech's (LAM's) but without mixed air combat, it's just not going to happen.

Yes. The Fire Scorpion, 65 tons, introduced 2834, but it is a clan mech (Clan Goliath Scorpion).

I would pilot ANY and ALL 'Mechs.

I want EVERY 'Mech ever created in this game - except LAMs. Wishful thinking, I know... ^_^

You mean people wouldnt buy cosmetic skins, and use real money to get items faster? I simply dont think there should be anything that would be only achievable by real money, unless theyre cosmetic and offer no advantages or something

I've always wanted to see quads in game. Considering I never even use them in Battletech though, I don't think I will feel their absence if they aren't there.

There is also the Balius that the Hell's Horses produced. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Balius
If nothing else, it looks cool.

PGI has to make money somehow, and any money they get is absolutely deserved.

I just wrote up a big rant concerning anti-consumerist tactics popular among the big publishers (EA, Activision, Capcom, etc) and I realized that it was so far off topic that I should just delete it and keep it short and sweet to avoid hijacking the thread.

In short, I feel that we as consumers should support this business model and not go all nerd-rage on the MWO guys if they choose to charge a few bucks for 'mech-pack DLC. A F2P model is about as pro-consumerist as it gets; it's just that we have to understand that these guys aren't doing this just out of the goodness of their own hearts, they *have* to make money to keep the project moving forward.

TF2 makes a butt load off of cosmetic items and items that anyone can get but can pay to get quicker. While TF2 wasn't originally a F2P and built up it's fanbase first, Battletech has a fairly large pre-existing fanbase already. Just because it's pro-consumerist doesn't mean they won't make any money.

Ah, I was under the impression that it was just an NPC. That's nice to know. ^_^
