You should add a 5th option, No, but I would certainly be amused fighting those crippled mechs.

My answer is no, but that's primarily because they can't carry hatchets, which I do love greatly, and will push for until this game dies.

If only people would fight this hard to get melee in, eh?

As far as quad mechs: I don't feel strongly either way. I'll pilot one for the novelty if they get put in, but it's not going to ruin my day if they aren't.

Probably not. I've been pounding his nonsense since he entered this thread. He tends to just ignore any and all points made and continue his Anti-Quad Jihad. Do I smell a WoBbie? He *is* declared for FWL, weren't they in bed with the WoBbies?

He's a Steiner spy. I thought everyone knew that.

I have no problem with quads being in, although I'm in no hurry to pilot one. But if they are, I expect to see some pony repaints.

I can live without it but it would bring fresh air into game, these quads are official proper mechs.... no its not armored core,in that game you fly around at 500kmh,mechwarrior is much more realistic and slow paced.... isnt quad like a quad

dont have phobia from quads, mechwarrior isnt bipedal only, mechwarior is mechwarior no matter how many legs

About the term "Mechwarrior":
I would imagine there are subdivision specialties for Mechwarriors as there are for modern day pilots. Quad-Mechwarrior being one such yet easily folded in the generic term Mechwarrior as both a bomber pilot and a fighter pilot are still combat pilots yet their equipment has a fair amount of differences.

Firing and aiming for quad-mechs:
People seem to think that weapons have to be hard set into the chassis unless mounted in an arm or leg. More than one source in BT books mentions gimbal mounts for the weapons in torso locations, quads are no exception. Considering -any- torso mounted weapon on TT gave a 120 degree arc of fire, there is still wiggle room for aiming through gimbals plus the more range of movement provided by four legs (side-stepping). While aiming may be more restrictive than a torso-twisting, arm-swinging 'mech it is still viable on a quad even without turrets.

Battlemech Turrets:
That was in the Level 3 souce book Maximum Tech last I saw. I also stopped reading and playing Battletech shortly thereafter so if it was folded into another source or tech level I cannot say. It covered shoulder turrets and head turrets, with the main difference being firing arcs provided. Seem to recall a special rule about quadmech turrets as well*. They required critical slots for the mechanisms and maybe (cant recall exactly) were weighted according to the weapons mounted on the turret. However, as far as I can tell and from older source books, up to 3049 is generally Level 2 so even from that point they may not be allowed considering the in-game starting date and from a developer point of view (on expanded tech like Level 3 equipment and rules)

*will have to see if I can find my Heavy Metal Pro somewhere and if it includes turrets and if there is a special case for quad turrets. Only source books I have anymore are from the 4th Edition box set.

For those who have followed the BattleTech universe, is not a new topic, but in a simulation game as we expect MW: O' is, it would be great to have this variant battlemech's

BTW
someone show me how to make a POLL <_<

Barghest. It is filled with awesomeness. 13 tons of armor, 86.4 km/h speed, 2 ER Larges and and LB20X. Quads have a place here. Not a deal breaker for me if they don't make it in but in 3058 they came into their own a bit.

Tarantula is kind of cool. Barghest is nice but it won't be around for quite a while. Sloth as portrayed in The Animated Series is kind of cool also. I'll be perfectly happy with just bipeds though. More of a "for completeness sake after everything else has been coded."
