What are the chances of something different like quad mech showing up later in the game? Have these been used in any of the PC games? Yes I know it will be more work for the devs, but I did say later.

LordDeathStrike, if I didn't know better I'd think you where purposefully leading people here astray. Almost every post you seem to make concerning the lore and canon of this game is partially wrong - at best. For someone who proffesses to know a lot about BT/MW you seem to know quite little about it.

Quadrupedal

The Quad 'Mech uses its "arms" for legs which gives these designs some additional stability and maneuverability (such as sidestepping, also known as lateral shift movement). The concept was much maligned for sacrificing the overall versatility of BattleMechs and the early designs, notably the Scorpion and the Goliath, proved flawed, being notoriously difficult to maintain and highly susceptible to breakdowns. It was only around the year 3060 that improved technology led to new quadrupedal 'Mech designs, although the stigma associated with the general concept still lingers. Bipedal BattleMechs remain the vastly more common 'Mech.

There are in fact, quite a few quad BattleMechs in existance.

that is correct. in one mission you had to escort a tarantula quad
it would be nice if quads were implemented

Then you havent heard of ZPH-Tarantula? a light mech with 2 medium lasers and a streak srm launcher, top speed of 129,6 kph, and an incredible jumpjet distance?

i suspect the problem is that in this era, we only have two quads, both unseen, plus they would require additional programming to allow for making those 2 potential models much more expensive to include. while we may see them in the long run, i doubt they will be availible during the first few months of the game because of how overworked the programmers must be.

the quads can be downright awesome with level 3 rules to allow for turrets. spinning you main gun 360 degrees and going hull down behind a hill gives them a nice edge.

A quad with no rubbish variants? Most bipeds can't claim that. :)

Yeah, I know I'll have to wait a loooong time for this one. But programming quads probably isn't worth the aggro until there are more of them.

It's a pity that we probably won't see Quads in MW:O. Both the Scorpion and Goliath are FWL staples, and the pop-up and side-step maneuvers were both effective on the TT.

IIRC limited numbers of Gibson-built Goliaths were available to the FWLM in this era, but the Scorpion only got produced after taking Oliver in '57.

Come-on Siilk old buddy, don't say "No" until you've tried them....they are one of the most neglected 'mech types in all MW games...it's not like the OP is asking for Land-Air 'Mechs or anything crazy! :)

I know that they are almost certainly not going to ever be seen in a PC MW title (except that 1 appearance in MW2, and even then they were only pilotable with the hack that opened BA up for the player also)......but they could be cool if done well.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Scorpion, and the Stalking Spider looks pretty impressive- 86kph, ER PPC, two SRM-4s, and jumpjets. To bad that ones still ten years out.

the level 1 rules quads where interesting but quite weak (the Scorpion overheats like hell and the goliath lacks close range effectiveness). with special rules quads can be a lot better.

what about 3 leg mechs? they where introduced in the late Mechwarrior collectable click game (that, sadly, I had the bad idea to play for too much time)

I also hope they keep the quad 'mechs out of the game. There was a stigma against them for a reason. That is, unless they some how finish releasing EVERY other mech in this time table. Then I can see it justifiable.

Also, the three legged collosus 'mech Ares was just an all around dumb idea. It didn't appear in the series until dark age, and I personally wish it didn't make Canon at all.
