Why bother listing the max range for balastic weapons, if a person can spot your mech and have loaded an AC or gauss rifle they can hit you. I have seen Gauss Rifles hit at over 1300 (well beyond there stated 660). I have also seen the AC10 used hit at over 700 (450 max).

So my POV is why bother listing a max range for them. Leave it blank for if they can see they can hit.

i have been loving the November 6th patch. no "pug stomping", no lrm spammers after hotfix, AC20 is far more usefull then in previous patches, espcially with the new netcodeing.

imo PGI did a great job on this patch, ok LRM+Artemis slipped through the cracks, but they hotfixed it and got it out before the weeks end.

Good Work Devs loving my Hunchback 4G once again. looking forward to the cataphract on the 20th. :)

The max range listed in your weapons loadout represents the maximum range where the weapon will do full damage to the target. Beyond that range the damage drops off. You may well see a Gauss or an AC/2 make impact at 1300 but at that range it's doing little to no damage.

The stated range is not the max range but the effective range. Most weapons remain effective beyond that range with just the damage dropping. For example, the maximum range of the Gauss Rifle is well beyond 1000 meters, almost 2000 iirc.

LRMs no longer dominate gameplay, snow maps don't blind me anymore, hitboxes make more sense, and the crappy framerate I get on my min-spec'd laptop (formerly 12-14 FPS) now yields 14-19 FPS. For me that's a lot of reasons to celebrate.

Well done, PGI! Keep up the good work!

I forgot to mention that too, The framerate seems much improved, the stuttering netcode has really smoothed out. Looks Great!

yes, it was a step into the right direction.
There is still work to be done, but i guess you (the devs) won't deny that. You DID a good job of fixing this in such a short time.
I really love you guys for bringing back Mechwarrior, and i understand, that this project isn't easy. I mean... people are allready comparing your game to older Mechwarrior Games, and your's isn't even out of beta yet, that's a high leveled comparision, don't forget that.
I think the overall direction of the progress is very good, but i also could understand those ragers, as many of us were pointing out, that LRMs are a bit to strong before. I still am thinking, that LRMs SHOULD hurt, when you just run out in the open like a moron. I am wondering, how long it will take, especially when ECM comes out, until first people will rage about LRMs being useless, i really hope it doesn't happen, because i could really understand if you threw everything over then.
Dealing with people is hard - i am working / learning in the social worker sector, the bigger a community gets, the less good manners remain, very true on the interwebz :)

as far as im aware the matchmaker only allows 4 man clan drops now but i think its poosible for a 2 teams of 4 man groups to land on one team leaving the opposition to fill out using smaller grouped or solo players. i have to say though, i have probably lost more games today then i have won, but i have enjoyed them much much more then usual due to the matchmaking.

As funny as it is to kill half a team with a Catapult, I appreciate the quick fix. You guys don't get nearly as much credit as you deserve.

Seriously. If we can have a bug or two like this from time to time, fine by me. Just as long as they are brief.

It's a Mechwarrior game. Enough said. Been hanging out for one for a decade, and PGI are trying to bring it to life. It's not perfect, and won't be for quite some time, but it's getting there slowly.
I'm am however totally astounded though at how much crap they receive on these forums though. Back the f$%k off you whinging ******. Unless you can do better and/or have some constructive feedback to add instead just whining like a pack of overloaded mules.

@ Sodamixer. How do you find hitting fast moving targets now after the patch? Are you still having to lead them a long way?

Playing exclusively light mechs, i'll say: Deal with it!
...

But seriously, knockdown should be reintroduced. I miss the times when i actually had to pay attention while circle-strafing the heavies and assaults. I'm starting to get into really bad habits concerning my piloting skills!

Aslo, tackling enemy light mechs to leave them open to PAIN from my bigger buddies was a nice and quick way to get rid of other spotters.

They are tweaking the physical mechanic of the knockdowns, They are coming back in a later patch. Bryan Eckman addressed this in a earlier response. I miss them too buddy!

I can't applaud fixing something that wouldn't even have made it in if they had tested it for just a SINGLE match.

Might as well applaud somebody cooking hotdogs for you on the house they just burned down.

A fast fix for a f-up is still a fast fix, so I'm not going to complain.

Having to fix an "oh sh*t" moment on a project is an art form of its own.
