This is an alpha that they're calling an open beta so that they can begin collecting the money from their drones.

Honestly this game isn't anywhere as bad as other games were in Beta. I think too some people attribute a bug with an issue with the game itself where it could just be a setting they've changed or pilot error.

REALLY they think taking exp and damage from the Missiles are a good balance solution?

That's undoubtedly a bug. An obvious and impossible to miss bug with a game or two of testing, but most likely a bug.

If it's not a bug... hell that's crazy if it's not a bug

You act as if this is the last patch they will ever put out. Sit down, shut up. They will fix the issues. Whiners like YOU are ruining the game experience, not PGI.

+1

After this patch, I find myself actually hitting jenners and commandos with gauss (and killing them  )
The DHS changed, so it works now with engines, also they aren't superior instead they are an option.
Artemis is a fine addition, and it has its price...
And i see lot of player crying because LRMs. Well i saw today far less then before, and I rarely die to LRMs. It took me like 3 times to die to them and learned how to counter them.
Others are ******** for their money... They seem to forget they play in their free premium time...
Some raging because the 4 player groups... They should have play solo all day against 8man premades... (They are like... quite a lot of good reason why people go solo)
[... I just wrote a wall of rant about how ignorant people are, but deleted ...]

In short, I think this patch is good.

Who knows what they are thinking anymore. I think they are so focused on what they want to see and their vision of what Mechwarrior should be, they completely ignore the community that they are making the game for. Problem is that their vision is so skewed and is so broken that it's causing more problems and it's making the game less fun.

It reminds me of the whole Jay Wilson thing, how he always prefixed with "We think this would be more fun". Trying to dictate what is fun to your fanbase is the wrong way of going about it. Listen to your fanbase, listen to the constructive, logical criticism and idea's. Instead they are just sticking their heads in the sand it feels like.

Whats really happening is not them listening, its that they are not listening to "you". There are more and more garbage topics appearing, you really think they are gonna read it all? get real. This too, is a garbage topic.

It doesn't help that whenever a missile hits an armorless area, regardless of whatever internals you assume should be there, that the area in question explodes. If it's an XL-engine torso, too bad, you die.

FFS, you people seriously expect this game to be perfectly polished and complete at Open Beta. It's just that, it's still BETA regardless what you may think. During closed beta we had to endure at least 20 resets, it became a grind and a lot of people stopped playing because of the constant changes, but the majority of us endured.

I was in closed beta from the second release of keys so early June. I didn't stop playing since and saw:

1. Taking a week to save money to buy one engine.
2. Making the money to buy same engine in two days. (More in line with this economy)
3. First iteration of repair and rearm, people rage quit because they had to spend money to repair their mech, even though the money made overall was more than before. Testers competing how many matches they can go before repairing their mech (OP reminds me of the whining people)
4. Atlas getting headshot from one LRM salvo.
5. People complaining Atlas head hitbox too small.
6. People complaining LRM's need to be buffed. Damage increased to 1.5 per missile. This was perfect.
7. People still complaining and threatening to quit if LRM's aren't buffed. LRM's increased to 2 damage per missile. Fair at this stage.
8. Narc and TAG added. LRM's completely overpowered for their role as a support weapon. (I fear how powerful they are with Artemis)
9. People complaining light mechs doing 200KPH are too fast because their LRM's don't hit, demand they be nerfed.
10. Poor netcoding results in engine nerf. Speeds limited to 138KPH. (Hopefully this is fixed before Firemoth comes in, base speed 162KPH, 216KPH with MASC)
11. AMS shooting down any projectile including Gauss and AC shells. (Gauss boat pilots fuming)
12. Paul joining us in 16 mech Machine Gun brawls.
13. Paul cheating using Machine Gauss Guns. (Still killed him, scored a screenshot)
14. Crash to desktop every 1-2 games. Made unplayable but endured.
15. All pilots restarting clients after 3-4 matches due to memory leak issue.

These are some of the things we had to work with and while some were for the better most of it was just people whining and the devs listening to the WRONG people. Like I've said in other threads, "if you feel nothing is wrong would you post about it?"

The game is heading in the right direction but don't forget, this is still BETA.

You have a good point. My biggest problem is: PGI tells us, that the DHS are getting nerfed before they are even at full capacity, because of their internal testers. A week later we get a patch, not with minor bugs, that are to be expected, but with major Glaring holes, that makes the internal tester statement sound like a load of horse *&^#...

Patch makes the game much more playable for me. The changes to netcode and hitboxes make the game feel tighter and more about skill than it was before. Not had 4 FPS bug yet, but doesn't mean its gone... Light mechs are getting slaughtered when they run into groups of mediums and heavies now, which was not happening previously. New map is nice, I like well-lit maps. CN-9D is great fun. Just enjoying some ballistic loadouts now...

Matchmaking:

Still often lop-sided in terms of teams, but battles are lasting longer and are more interesting than before. Quite enjoying it actually, makes up for the incredible frustration of last week's PUG stomps etc.

Bugs in patch are mostly cosmetic. Rumours of endo-steel 1 shot kills but my CN-9D seems ok. The missile damage not registering is costing me C-bills, but I'm having more fun aiming and shooting at things with other weapons now... - which is the main thing for me..

This state of mind, or this thought process, is the reason MWO is where it's at right now. I'm a non founder and not a game developer on PGI's staff. Therefor anything I say or any Idea that I could come up with would never be correct or a solution to the problems that the actual development staff implements with their fixes and idea's. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the general consensus at PGI.

I don't care if they listen to me, I care that they listen to reason and logic. Something they are terrible at doing and even more terrible at implementing.

I seriously doubt they tested anything that we got today since this is now open beta and WE are the testers at this point to save costs and honestly we're a free army of people to figure out their bugs.

No, it's World of LRMs. Please nerf LRMs.

1. I've used LRMs in the past myself and I've enjoyed them because they did actually take some experience to make sure the LRMs could get over the obstacles between you and the target (or let teammates know the target was in the open). Now, there's no skill required because even cover (unless it's covering your mech like the roads on River CIty) won't stop the LRM damage now.
2. I'm not sure what other people are saying about no shake from LRMs, I'm certainly experiencing shaking and a complete black out of my vision. If you're going to do that with LRMs, let PPCs do their EMP effect to STOP the LRM locks.
3. This game just isn't fun at the moment with the LRM issue. Whether you get Cbills or XP for the damage, you ARE killing mechs with little work.

I thought the last patch was pretty good, and I generally like this patch EXCEPT for the LRMs, which makes it no fun to play.

It has to be a load of crap. If it's not a complete fabrication then they're simply complete fools that are incapable of finding obvious and instantly detectable bugs. They can either be liars or they can be braindead pelicans. The choice is yours. They'll likely not admit to either. Because honestly, I'm not even going to mention all of the other bugs and issues and broken crap, but this whole instant-death to internals thing... You can't miss that. You just can't.
