The only solution I know for this is to power down and power back up again. The HUD has always come back up after doing this for me.

Can confirm, though the overheating bug happens far too often in Caustic for obvious reasons.

Confirmed, and a known/reported bug from CB. Hopefully they get that one fixed someday.

Definately happens most often on Caustic.
Shutting down and powering back up occasionally works.
Also, its not just the text all the time, i've had the heat level NOT change on multiple occasions with this, stayed at 100% even if powered down for 15 seconds.

I've had 100% success with turning the mech off and then on again. But I'm in IT, so of course it's the first thing I tried.

I kind of like the bug being in - "You overheated your mech and now it's acting all weird. Look what you did." etc.

I also like it, for the same reason. A lance mate and myself were talking about it and would not mind see this fixed as a bug and then have the possibility of this inserted on a random basis. Lets face it, if you abuse the machine it will occasionally get weird as anyone who as overclocked knows. It would add to the "realisim."

I just had this happen in River City map. Powering down cleared the overheat shutdown message but failed to restart the hud. Basiclly all targeting data was lost and you are firing blind. Causing another overheat and destruction of your mech by others because you cannot respond. :P

Powering down due to the overheat should clear the overheat message. If you power back up and lose the HUD, power back down AGAIN then power back up, that has restored the HUD in the past.

Like you, I got into this situation during a fight, and couldn't kill a half-crippled Commando trying to cap my base because I couldn't aim properly! As the last man standing, I had my entire team yelling at me, and some of the opposing team as well. Took me 2-3 minutes to finally finish him off. THEN I discovered that power-cycling again would have cleared it. Oops. :P

Thanks Madoc, that is what I was trying to do with a Cat, hunch and a Jenny shooting at me. System just was not fast enough. :)

Been experiencing this bug as well and has happened quite often (often in terms of the amount of times ive overheated and it happened ofc)
Overpowering again seems to work if not overheating again restores it.

Had this happen to me today and i can confirm that powering down and restarting the mech again brings back the HUD

Cycling power fixes this but sometimes it is REALLY inopportune to shutdown and restart.

Noticed today that after having no Hud info after a overheat/powerup, I initiated a shutdown/powerup only to find only half the Hud working... Weapons list or bearing was on, but crossair or selecting a target ('R') was still off...

Destroyed before I could try another shutdown/powerup...

PS. It happens with my Atlas, if that means anything...

I'm experiencing the same behavior, power off and on solves the problem most of the time.

Of course, you overheat because of the fight going on ..so it's always unwelcome :)

Yep, but having to do that under fire is usually a death sentence. This one should be a priority to fix.

I can confirm this bug - and that power up/down restets the hud correctly.
of course doing so often gets you killed.

Powering down and back up fixes this problem. I just thought that because of the overheating the computers where wacked and needed to be rebooted. Out of all the bugs, I didn't attribute this one as a bug, just a computer in the mech malfunctioning and I needed to reboot it.....

I'm finding that overheat remains even after powering back up when I take damage while overheated. Maybe its just a coincedence? Powering down and back up solves it. Unfortunately this can be a big tactical disadvantage as targeting doesnt work and you can't tell friend from foe.
