hmmm....flamers....

upgrade to FS9-M perhaps?

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Firestarter

Not on Coventry, it would be an FS9-S#

M would mean a Marik variant, and Coventry is a Steiner controlled planet.

According to MUL the -S and -S1 variants both show up "this year".

-S1 carries AMS and ECM so fits the description.

Anyone have the sheet handy?

Edit;

Also the -M is already available - carries two Medium Lasers, two Small Lasers, and two Machine Guns. In addition, the armor protection has been increased by two tons.

Could do without the MGs so what to fit in their place...? hmmm...

I would love to see the firestarter in game. Especially if they allow us to use the flamers against the environment. Theirs a hunchie hiding behind a building, Burn it down. Ha that would be fun. The firestarter could be a good mech in game if they allow us to use it properly. If we can't then it is a waste. Like the Axeman, If we can't melee it is useless.

Dump a bit of armor, toss in some electronics?

Oh man, if a Firestarter is in MWO, I might just have to take THAT as my first mech!

This is very intresting indeed, I find it intresting because not only could you play havoc with a mech with lasers, but if you could start fires, you could "burn out" entire units. Say a scout lance is hiding in the jungle, you could just torch the jungle and cook them out. Which leads to an intresting question, do you think we will be able to affect the enviroment to that degree?

I know that building distruction (to a degree) will be in, but it seems like a lot of coding to add to be able to start fires to random locations/things. What do you all think? Woud be cool if it was in but, I would understand if it wasn't. Because that is a lot of code to add for something that would have a very limited use.

Tue. Apr 17, 3049: The maligned Firestarter—hated for its dangerous flamers—has received a Coventry upgrade, including electronics and AMS.

Does this mean the Devs had Mexican food with a lot of habaneros for lunch? :P

In other news, a small forest fire has been started by a Firestarter, this was quickly put out as an Atlas soon went nova and exploded, extinguishing the fires.... BAHAHAHA, good times.

It would be kind of silly if they were to add a 'Mech like the Firestarter if trees can't even be burned.

In any case, the Firestarter is one of the 'Mechs I'm looking forward to the most (Next to the Vindicator and Cataphract of course).

"Much maligned"? I've never heard anything but praise for the Firestarter apart from being over-specialised.
I'm very much hoping it makes it into game. It would probably be my Light Mech of choice... with a few tweaks here and there.

Unless it's free I really wouldn't want to be piloting one.

Mechwarriors in general disliked the Firestarter because it wasn't a 'clean kill' mech, it was a mech designed to torture enemy mechwarriors with heat, and lets just say infantry hate it even more. Firestarter pilots were generally considered 'evil' and untrustworthy if I recall by lots of other MechWarriors because of the tactics the mech used in combat. Nobody wants to be cooked alive. Nobody.
