Battletech to me is the story, the novels, and the TT game. Mechwarrior on the other hand means all the computer games made to date(With the exception of MechAssault :S)

Yeah... which post, Felix? I got started in the universe with MW2... shortly thereafter I bought the Blood of Kerensky trilogy and the Warrior trilogy novels and have been hooked since... I can't explain how much money I invested into BattleTech/MechWarrior (including DarkAge... I know some of you don't like it but I did) but I can tell you this... my ex didn't like it too much LOL!

You should have had the poll be multiple choice, because I would have chosen Computer-Simulated Combat, Tactics, Story! Love the Universe, and Camaraderie, rather than Other.

Maybe even add in, this is one of the few games, or the only game, that I know and love, I am a slave to it whether I like it or not, and it was the first place I was able to really be creative in my life without the undue influence, as a kid, of my Mother on my personal outlook on life. I love BattleTech, it's a part of me, now, and has been for 28 years this coming November.

I echo Kay Wolf's sentiments, if I could have chosen more than one answer I would have. For me story probably ranks highest, I love the blending of traditional sic-fi elements with a neo-feudal society (or societies I guess).

I also love the tactical and, to an extent, strategic side of the TT game. That's why, with the exception of the super-LRMs, MW3 and Pirates Moon were my favourite instalments in the series. even though the MFB could repair you ridiculously quickly, it added a fun element to the game, especially battle waves in instant action mode where it let you actually engage wave after wave of enemies with only 20 rounds for your LB-10X if you rotated your lance mates well.

Lastly, in the last 7 or 8 years I've really started to appreciate the community, and especially how the developers (of MW:O and the TT) recognize and interact with the community. Not many people play the TT where I live (to the extent that my local gaming store now only carries source books and no longer the minis), so it is nice to be able to stay plugged in with the online community, even if real life only affords me a couple of hours a week.

I also wish it was multiple choice. I love the story, the firepower, and the tactics. And like sierra stated, the community. It is always so cool to happen to stumble onto a Battletech conversation with someone who you either didn't realize played or just a new person you met, because Battletech is such a link to share.

i would've chosen the story but although the fact i love the BTU i chose the comradery because it brings the story and all things behind it into my life and that is much more intense!

If you are refering to the Table Top game, I had to vote for Tactics. Any game where I have to use my brain instead of just mindless maneuvers is a big plus in my book.

Now if your refering to the books, I have to say the lore. I just love getting lost in the story.

[x] - all of the above, to some extend.
(voted for story, anyway)

Mathematically speaking, Mechwarrior is a subset of Battletech. But then again, who cares for math when you've got heavy metal mayhem? :P

I voted for story, but honestly all of it. When I played the TT game there was nothing like getting out the dice and rolling for the win. The novels alone make for a great time as well.

Story. I have read 7 books, but they are all good; even the dark age book Fire at Will was a good one.

Nah-uh.... I don't believe it... you don't have a hair on your *** unless you get a pic of that... I HAVE to see this, hehe. I've been a fanatic for BT two-thirds of my life, and I can't imagine getting a tattoo of anything, even BattleTech.

Spend enough time all day, every day being what others want.. this is my retreat. I tell you it comes from being such a lego-aholic when I was a kid.
