I have not died from a long range lrm barrage since the patch came out. Just stay behind cover, and draw the lrms in, then rush their position.

There are a variety of gameplay bugs with the current patch. The game is barely playable. I think the main one is to the 'mechs Internal Structure which is making LRMs more powerful than they should be so I don't know how powerful LRMs plus Artemis really are.

Getting behind cover and surviving depends on the 'mech, it's speed, it's radar signature so unless you are piloting all the 'mechs, this is a very subjective result you are reporting.

Most of us assume that semi-rational people would look at screenshots like the one you posted - realizing that you absolutely could not achieve anything close to those numbers with any weapons other than LRMs - and recognize that they indicate a severe imbalance in the game.

Getting over 1,000 damage with current-status LRMs doesn't indicate "skill" so much as it does the ability to press R + left mouse button.

I've been awake for too many hours now, I'm too lazy to type detailed posts like yours, but I like to tip my hat for summarizing a lot of things I would have said (and more) if I could focus.

"GOOD NEWS EVERYONE, YOU'RE ALL FULL OF **** AND I'M RIGHT." - Is what was gathered from your last post.

so, let me get this straight. pre-patch, LRM's were OP . results, "You slaughtered them with no problem"

Post-patch, ZOMG!!1!!! LRM's are OP! "My old tactic of rushing willy nilly at them and slaughtering them doesnt work any-more... NERF THEM!!!!"

now, for some CONSTRUCTIVE input. Yes, the angle of attack is too steep in my opinion, i think it should be between 50 and 60 degrees. that being said, i think the grouping is fine and if you charge/lumber at me in your assualt with no cover/AMS i'm gonna eat you up.

yes, i do run lrm boats. i did before the patch, and i do it now. my damage has gone up some... but not as drasticly as some make it out to be. and before you accuse me of being a lousy lrm driver, let me say, my team mates love to see me on the field with them. there are many tactics that are VERY effective against lrms.. some that didnt exist before the patch. i have informed my merc corp buddies of my observations and they have validated those for me. NO i'm not gonna post them in Gen as i wanna hold on to those secrets as long as i can.

bottom line, figure the tactics out, or lose the match.

No, pre patch, lrms were fine, post patch, they're OP.

People who said they were OP last patch are wrongos.

Respectfully disagreed. With the second half that is. Pre-patch if I was hit was a single salvo in my medium Cicada (with full armor and AMS), I was put into critical damage. Now granted, speeding along at 130 kph and using cover wisely certainly better mitigated this risk pre-patch. However, it's not a single salvo of missiles I have to content with at any given time. Rather, it's roughly ALL the missiles. ALL of them. The game isn't meant for pilots to need to be in a cave the entire match. Pre-patch LRM boats were still sitting in the back spamming missiles and racking up over 1500 damage and everyone else's kills.

At least then, there was a successful counter-strategy: charge the LRMs and stay inside their effective range. Post-patch there simply is nothing else. Artemis challenges anything to approach a missile boat and make it alive. Matches are just missiles and scoreboards.

However, I suppose that it wasn't LRMs that were particularly overpowered pre-patch, but the fact that they are increasingly used in overwhelming numbers...

They were really only used massively, pre-patch, by loosely organized groups and PUGs, since it's easy to use LRMs moderately well, alot of the premade groups didn't use them much, favoring gimmicky builds or just whatever they had fun with. They were super deadly, but you could mitigate or avoid them. Now you can't do that anymore.

Now if you don't run LRMs you're pretty much doing it wrong.

but hey, whatever, we agree that they are currently OP, yes?

Eh. I had slightly different experiences; many premades dropping in with four or more missile boats and a few scouts, then raining hell down on the opposition. PUGs seemed just as bad, the trial mechs all loaded to the brim with LRMs; a catalyst to your point. Either way, you're absolutely right: at least then, we could run. Live. Use cover, and pick off stragglers.

Now... it's just death from above.

I don't need to, the other 30 people that have replied to this thread have done more than enough. I don't need to convince anyone of something that's clearly broken, especially someone who skips all pages of a thread, jumps to the end and posts his 1 or 2 games as being fact that something is not broken.

Just had to pay 66,644 CBills in repairs because an enemy Jenner followed my Jenner long enough for two missile salvos to kill me. They really need to "hotfix" this with a quickie nerf, even if it was nothing more than rolling back LRMs to what they were two days ago, and temporarily disabling Artemis.

It seems that they need a bit more internal testing and tweaking with LRMs, because it's virtually impossible to test the balance of anything else in the game right now. Literally 3/4 or more of my matches are the exact same boring thing; mass missile boats and a few scattered lights/mediums/trial Atlas', and whoever gets targeted first dies, even if you're only targeted very briefly.

/yawn another Another lrm QQ thread.. here's my 2cents

LRMS are not overpowerd, it's the player skill that determines damage, stop QQing about it for heavens sake it's part of world of mechwarrier. I understand why you guys cry and whine so much because when good players take out the other team, the other team always has to make excuses about why they lost, they never think perhaps they got outplayed?

Example:

Posted Image

Perfect example, for every match some1 makes good damage, some of the other team are always gonna blame it on netcode, lrms, or something or other and come crying to forums, and frankly I'm sick of it  learn to play or if your gonna keep qqing about weapons go play COD instead, This games probobly a bit too complicated for yu.

Great game PGI.. and frankly if LRMS are making the crybabies leave this game, give them another buff I say, I'll even buy more MC if you do :(

Don't change your game for the crybabies, your game is better than dat ;)

And you are just that much better than every other member of your team, and the guys on the other team. I don't think so.

Medium and Lights are fast enough to wait until the very last moment then dodge behind a building losing the missiles by contact with cover. Heavy and assault can't use this tactic and only have AMS to rely on. Although it only prevent a little fraction of damage AMS on heavy and Assault isn't really optional equipment currently.

Which means that LRMs are naturally stronger against pugs. Thus we have an unbalance. A weapon that is worthless when against decent teamwork, and a weapon that is oddly powerful when faced with a lack of team work. Most games consider this a broken weapon and would change it.

Wait, so they should nerf a TEAM game because those who don't work as a team are losing? I would say the biggest thing is to get integrated VOIP and lobbies going. Lone wolves will continue to be fodder whatever the weapons used, but pugs that can communicate will do FAR better than they can now. Don't turn this into COD with everyone running around the map in a circle. I imagine the devs are taking data from this Beta and will change values/characteristics yet again. Just don't make it so lone wolves are on the exact same level as a team. Maybe they could make a special lobby for singles with no communication allowed to satisfy that part of the population.

Well, according to others LRMs aren't effective in your TEAM game so why would it matter if no one uses them in that setting anyway? The point he's making is that it should be an effective but not overpowering weapon in both settings.

Also, if you're not using LRMs in your teams then you're A. probalby having more fun and B. not using the most effective weapon currently. You can statistically prove they have the highest DPS and the highest damage per ton and you can show in game that with good spotting they don't miss the target anymore. They are, hands down, the best weapon currently.

You know what? LoL is a team based game a rather successful one with million dollar tournaments and professional gamers. You know what they do when something is useless to a premade team yet overly powerful to pugs? They change it. They make it useful in a premade all while reducing it's overall power at the pug level. It creates a nice balance that largely fixes the issue. They do it through nerfs, buffs, and flat out mechanic changes.

What should this teach you all?

Kill the scouts that are giving the LRMs targets when your behind cover as fast as possible. Stay out of sight of all enemy mechs. Run AMS. Use your own LRMs to keep enemy LRMs down. Make LRM mechs your first focus.

These things might work for you if you try.

Also PGI needs to put ECM's into the game quickly.

ROFL have you tried to hit a fast moving commando/Jenner in the past month.

The hit detection is horrible.

Invulnerable scouts (except LRMS) LRM OP..... no fun gameplay

Its pretty bad right now.

Hiding from the issue does not make it go away.

Cover is no help the Artie system increases the arch of the missles by about 25% so they go right over the hill stay nice and tight dealing up to 60 to 80 damge depending on 2 LRM 15 or 2 LRM 20.

You can take cover from the LRM spotters as well. Break the spotter's LOS and you break the LRM's ability to lock on. A dedicated anit-light mech in your unit should have little trouble removing the other team's forward spotters.

I played for a few hours last night and, like the OP, never once died from an LRM barrage.

Try to take cover from a random scout spotter in an Atlas. Good luck with that.
