Pre-Patch
Commando 1D
2 x Medium Lasers
2 x Streak Missile Launchers
Standard 150 Engine with 6 Bugged DHS
4 DHS not in engine
Heat Dissipation = 11.6 (6 at 1 and 4 at 1.4)
Heat Efficiency = 1.62
Post Patch Same Setup
Heat Dissipation = 14.0 (or it should be)
Heat Efficiency = 1.35
How the hell did the Heat Efficiency go down when they fixed the engine heat sinks? What else did they do and not tell us? This is getting old...so is it that they are lying or can't do math?

My guess would be that while in game the heat sinks behaved improperly, the mechlab calculated heat efficiency assuming that they worked as intended.

The overall heat efficiency went down yes but if you look at your heat dissipation in game you'll be surprised. The "Heat efficiency tab is not really that accurate anymore. None of my builds were effected and most of them use DHS. Some of them were even improved.

DHS is not the thing to be complaining about at the moment, there are much greater issues beyond DHS and LRM's with this patch. *Cough internal structure cough*

If that is the case then it should still be the 1.62 then.

before patch: 6 singles, 4 doubles. .......................equivilent heat sinks: 14
after patch: 6 engine 1.4 dhs, 4 exterior 1.4 dhs....equivilent heat sinks: 14

Problem is, before the patch, the heat efficincy meter was calculating all 10 as 2.0 doubles even though they were not. The meter was broken.

Your actual combat effectiveness after the patch should be the same.

don't forget that heat was increased on the lasers (not sure about the missiles, haven't tested that myself yet).

Like redshift said, the heat efficiency scale changed, not your mechs efficiency.

Exactly this.

You have 14 total DHS. The pre-patch heat scale was wrong, as it calculated assuming the engine sinks were double (as though you had effectively 28, even though the bug left you with effectively 18). Now you have 14*1.4=19.6, and the heat efficiency scale is reflecting this correctly. You were never getting 1.62 pre-patch, and your actual heat efficiency should be slightly better now with that same setup.
