Definite Overnerf.
2x20 LRM with Artemis, shooting only with line of sight around 1200 rokets spend, 141 damage done.

I can stand in LRM rain with my Atlas now and just ignore it, the damage ist laughable with AMS around you. Even Commandos are a bigger threat then those duds raining from the sky.

I still ran up 400 damage on my Dual LRM20 Atlas last nite in multiple games. I was averaging about 800 before the nerf. It seems about balanced now to me. Chewing up a Cat in 4 salvos pre-nerf was just ridiculous.

LRM´s are pretty useless now. You cant fit in enough ammunition to kill even 1 Atlas.. LRM´s take to much slots for its damage now.

Would like to see a smarter LRM (doesn't need to be more powerful or have its grouping modified), but having LRMs take the quickest path to a wall pretty much makes then not worth taking.

I think I found an issue. Was using a HBK-4SP, powered down, and then I could use freelook over my right shoulder to see out the back of the Mech into open space rather than an enclosed cockpit.

A great patch. Want to know why? Lets take emotion out of it a second

A little education appears to be in order.

Maybe we need to take a minute and understand how Artemis works. Artemis is a Line of Site LASER designator with upgraded missiles able to be guided via microwave transmission from launching vehicle. In short, no Line of site then artemis doesn't help..unless you have a friendly unti with TAG that is designating for you.

As far as damage reduction goes. LRM 20's in BT/TT do 20 damage, LRM15 does 15 (1 pt per missile). So..in the game balance they were previously doing 2 I think? Considering that other weapons are doing canon damage vaules or close to it, (although some have substantially higher heat) . This is NOT unreasonable to lower LRM damage to be in line with everything else. (And before someone bring it up, in TT/BT an SRM 6 does 2 damage per missile..in MWO they only do 2.5 per missile).

So LRM damage has been dialed up to 1.7 at its current values.(it was 2.0 and 200%)..that's IN it's current state! SRM's are only dialed up 25%.

Gauss rifles are canon values
IS ERPPC are canon values
IS sm, med, med pulse are all canon values, but with dialed up HEAT (they are hotter)
IS LG pulse, large, er large are improved from 8 dmg to 9 with slightly lower heat. (that's a 12.5% damage increase, granted the heat is improved..but still)

I don't feel like going into ballistics but you get the point. You want to talk to Nerf vs OP? I'd have to say LRM's were the most Overpowered (not overpowering) weapons in the game.

Here is details on Artemis and TAG....
According to BT canon sources referenced on Sarna:

Artemis IV Fire Control System is a guidance system that utilizes an infrared laser designator and tight-beam microwave transmitter which improves the accuracy of LRMs, SRMs, and MMLs by roughly thirty-five percent

and TAG

Target Acquisition Gear is an advanced targeting device for use by artillery spotters. The TAG unit works by firing an infrared laser beam to designate the target and transmits that data via a tight-beam laser communication system to the guidance systems of friendly "smart" bombs and missiles. The system was first introduced by the Terran Hegemony in 2600, but it became Lostech during the Succession Wars until it was recovered by the Federated Suns in 3033.[1] TAG is compatible with systems such as Arrow IV Homing Missiles or Semi-Guided LRM munitions.

I get your frustration. You got a build/weapon and liked it. And it was effectively was taken away.

LRMs are a SUPPORT weapon. The Atlas is the king of the battlefield in terms of weps and armour (at least in the IS at this time)

Its meant to grind forward slowly and just get pounded. You are already getting 170% of their tabletop damage per missile with LRMs (they are 1 point each in tabletop) . No other weapons in game got that level buff. And in fact a lot got nerfed. Closest I can come up with right now, would be the SRM's at 2.5 damage each vs 2.0 in Tabletop. That's a 25% increase.

I would submit that you are either using LRM's wrong, or have the wrong expectation.

Remember..this is a TEAM game...Mechwarrior Online...not LRM online.

The job of LRMs, is to soften up the enemy, and bombard them via indirect fire. This doesn't mean you necessarily are going to get kills.

As the game was prior to the patch. I think it would have killed the game as it was basically "Missile Command".

as in...maybe its time to take something OTHER than LRMS on your mech, so you can soften AND kill your target?

Ran a my founder dual LRM 15 pult today, I am not having problems getting kills or doing damage.

Unfortunately, I think folks got used to the idea of easy kills with LRM's. Again, what are your expectations?

As far as SRM's go. They have better grouping with Artemis. But this is NOTHING like what they used to be like pre-nerf in the closed Beta.

For the record...an SRM6 does 15 in MWO, and 12 in TT. So they should hit fairly hard. But the damage is spread. Artemis helps that some, but they still require some skill.

LRMs are trickey to fine tune, there are so many parts that touching one almost always throws something else out of whack. We seem to be hovering around the final config that will work for most (which is always the goal), a final tweak here and there and they should be good (for awhile).

Then back to collision and melee implementation!

Just to educate you back for a sec there -- it's "line of sight", e.g. seeing an enemy directly, and not "line of site", e.g. seeing a construction site or website. :)

No education necessary. Obviously you haven't got very good things to do with your time, if you are grammatically correcting a gaming forum. Not that I really care, but I was typing on an Iphone. Spellchecker on that thing stinks.

I guess your mom never taught you correcting others is rude?

Like how you missed the "unti" instead of until as well.

You do understand what he is talking about right?

Have you seen the Jenner's running around with part of their mech sticking out at a weird angle? That is viewing the Jenner from a 3rd person view, and we are seeing a graphics bug. That is what is being addressed.

Well, it hasn't been addressed. I saw a jenner yesterday with it's "extra bit" hanging off it.

The damage nerf I could live with but increasing artemis spread makes it some what useless, especially when it takes up valuable space and missile ammo is fairly expensive.

It's not the damage of the missiles causing these low damage numbers... If they were still at 2.0, that would've been about 166 damage. Still very low for firing 1,200 missiles.

Something else is going on, not related to the damage per missile.

Whatever the problem is I hope PGI fixes it quick. I'm tempted to simply go play PlanetSide2 for a few weeks. Crap's busted bad.

hm, thanks a lot for this hotfix ... #sarc

now the 1.000k c-bills for the artemis were wasted and it is more likely impossible to use LRMs without artemis. now LRMs+artemis work like normal LRMs in the TT and LRMs without artemis work like ... - no, the don't work at all now! 15+15 LRMs without artemis do the damage of one small laser now (without artemis) - by instinct. nerfing overpowered weapons is ok, but nerfing them to the unplayable/unuseable sucks a lot ...

i agree, that LRMs with artemis were overpowered before the hotfix, but you shouldn't have nerfed them so massive, that's just the absolute wrong opposite of before! a snowballthrower would do more damage now. fact.

... and please spare me with those "LRMs are just ment as support weapon" postings now ...

sorry for low-skill-LRM-user-"whining", but it must be said.
