On forest, while in the cave, if you're targeted or not, the enemy team can fire missiles at the cave (when they're no chance of hitting, because of being underground) and your AMS will still burn ammo. Some teams are focusing on luring/engaging teams inside the cave in order to have others hang back and burn out their AMS ammo with staggered LRM strikes.

I'm all about tieing people up inside the cave on that map, it's a hard place to fight and can shift the power of a match. But AMS should not be going off on LRM strikes from outside the cave.

Just wanted to confirm this issue still exists, that the AMS will attempt to engage LRM's while underground with no LOS.

AMS always fire on missiles that are close by, even when they don't have LOS. It's not just in the cave.

Thats the reason why many players already asked for a button to switch off the AMS.

Yes! I want that as well. It would also come in handy for when you want to sneak around and not have your AMS show your position.

Agree with that. A button to switch off would be great, sometimes you can get to cover before the salvo arrives and still wasting AMS ammo.

I find it hard to believe this is a real tactic, and that with the current state of 4on4 +8 random pugs, there would be any way to seriously coordinate it for efficacy.

I honestly think this should be left 'as-is', but won't object to an on-off button on the AMS.

After all, I can ignore the on-off button and always leave my AMS on as it is now.

Sounds like a good trade to me - your team is protected in cave, you only exchange your ams ammo for their lrm ammo. Yet no chance of getting hit.

Much better then being hit with even one missile.

Is it broken? Yes. Is it imba in favor of LRMs? LOL NO.

It seems like it would be simple enough to use the Weapons Grouping for AMS. Simply have it such that when you go to the AMS weapon line pressing right-ctrl would turn it on or off (with the default being on).

yeah was sneaking up behind a lrmcat, and my AMS gave me away lol.

Fires anywhere that missiles are 200m or closer, even if theres solid objects in the way (like under the base in river city). Given the only time AMS is useful is if either theres only light lrm coming in or large amounts of AMS (like 6-8) I dont really bother with it now.
