Since the original Battletech board game (man I'm getting old) I have played most of it's incarnations, like the Genesis/Mega Drive version where a Marauder flies in the opening, the card game with a unique set of rules and the various PC versions of Mechwarrior. I love Battletech, but I'm not a fanatic rules advocate who can cite any obscure background of any weapon.
I got very excited with Mechwarrior reboot that never happened, and got very excited with Mechwarrior Online, which finnaly came out, a bit early and unpolished I must say, but it's here. Some people complain about how it's not like that Mechwarrior, or like some aspects do not truly reflect the board game rules. I too, disagree with some of the choices Piranha Games have made along the developing proccess, but I too work on a company with financial targets and deadlines that must be achieved at any cost, and that also led me to make bad choices in the past, it's just part of the business game.
Battletech/Mechwarrior have a unique game atmosphere and play mechanics that is hardly found on any other first person shooter, and that's also help to raise the expectations of all the fans like me, and like much of the people here in the forum, I was very frustrated with some nuances Mechwarrior Online presented. But now, after playing the last closed beta wave, and still playing to today (yesterday to be true), I can see this game has a solid base for development and can evolve to be a great experience (I truly hope so).
Mechwarrior Online is evolving, slowly but it is evolving, and I'm here to show my support to Piranha Games, you're doing a great job people, even not agreeing with all the decisions made, the game is fun to play right now, and can only get better with more content and adjustments on game balance.
For those complaining about the lack of adherence to tabletop rules (like me a few times), there are rules that simply won't fit on a first person shooter of today, all you can do is suggest a better idea and move on.
For people at Piranha Games, keep it up with the good work and remeber, haters gonna hate no matter what.
See you in the battlefield.

I like this post! I agree 100%! As a long time Battletech fan, the most important to me that they capture the "feel" of the game and in my opinion they are on the right track!
Thank you Piranha - I look forward to experiencing this game as it unfolds!

Heh. I was about to sit down and throw out a "ramblings of an old TT player" post, but this about covers it. Certainly, I had things in my mind on how the game would or wouldn't work, and I've struggled at times to deal with "bad" design decisions. But the fact is that I love this game. The whir of the servos as you turn, the sight of a mech getting rocked by my AC/20, or watching a rain of missiles shower down - I love it.
So I'll throw in another "thanks from an old TT player that's been waiting for a new BT video game"

The Purple Ninja randomly shows up in a lot of their videos - usually something entirely unrelated to what is going on.
