Anyone notice that the unofficial teamspeak server lost 50% of its player base with the introduction of the 4 man team?

Just a comment.

Nope.

Anecdotal evidence is pretty crap, to be honest. Unless you have access to data that shows the population over time on the servers, then you're talking out of your a$$. The OP just comes across as passive-aggressive but t hurt over the change.

I also have no evidence but I've heard other people say the numbers are down. Whether this is due entirely to the group size limit or the broken missiles or something else entirely or is just perception and not actually the case I don't know.

Also coming in to say our mumble server used to have around 100 on during most of the day and now it sits vacantly empty with only 20 or so players.

He is not posting anecdotal evidence about in-game server populations. He is only stating the fact that the TS3 he was on is now less populated then before the patch. He can check the numbers of players on the TS3 to previous days number and clearly see that people are not playing. I also see the same on my groups mumble. This is not anecdotal evidence as we can clearly see the exact numbers involved. For all we know the games servers are more populated, but with pugs. Once the missile bugs are fixed we will see how the rest of phase 1 will play out.

For now, a lot of the team-based players are just plain sitting it out or sync dropping in two teams of 4.

I played less the past 2 days, but that was because of the LRM spam not being much fun. Ill be back to my normal level today.

Also: Our private mumble server had 10-12 people on last night for the hour+ I played.

Um, I think you need to look up the word 'anecdotal'.

The number of users logged into the TS3 server is one of those things we call "facts". It doesn't vary at all regardless of who is looking at it nor is it something that involves a sample size.

Last night, the Comstar EU server had about 1/2 to 3/4 the number of players on it that you normally see. The others were even worse.

That being said, though there are some people who have decided to go play other games / sit it out until 8-man teams come back it wasn't due solely to this annoyance of being forced to play with four people you don't know who don't contribute much.

The other factor was the LRM debacle; a couple of people who I normally play with were just sitting last night out and waiting for the patch today. The game post-patch had just become very one-dimensional and not nearly as enjoyable.

anyone noticed that all it takes is a tiny bit of knowledge about the system and you can still drop 8-mans? ;)

Yeah, but it's not reliable. And then you've got everyone in a single TS channel yet playing two different games which is annoying.

no joke, in my group we often have 5 full groups going, and we drop against each other. yesterday there were 9 people on at peak. its just not the same without groups. i did some cbill farming last night 20-1 most were 8-0. so win rate is the same, but its not as fun any more. whatever, in a while we will have a real game back and can stop having to deal with random strangers doing random things.

ya, but its so much touchier than before, with the 8v8 drops it worked 90% of the time easy. now its less than 40% of the time. but then again, its still against puggers, so no fun. we tried dropping 16 people at once, and got one team of 8 and the other side with 4 and 4 puggers, of which 3 suicidally charged from the word go. so not a good fight.

its just eaiser to farm cbills in a 4 man till the real game is back. insane for k/d also. seeing how there are 4 good players working together, and 4 puggers, guess who gets the kills and damage.

I run it in 2 mumble channels, 4 players in each channel but they are linked. If we drop and don't get together, I just unlink the channels and we play normally.

I hear that ... since most of the PUGers on our team die before they kill anything (or even do much damage) we're racking up the kills. But hey ... they're "winning" right? Charlie Sheen would be proud.

Yes, we also noticed with 4man teams we actually make a little more cash then full 8. We do all the work, the pubs die early or are AFK and we get the 8 enemy kills and associated bonuses. Win rates and deaths are unchanged. Phase 1 is really just to let the pubs feel good about playing the game even if they lose just as much. Any premade who is still playing is either winning just as often with 4mans of dropping teams of 8 anyway. Phase 1 solved nothing from a technical or game-play standpoint and only serves to sooth the pub-whine while turning teams away from playing the game.

Not too many dropships, you can make more channels. I haven't noticed a drop in players. I've noticed an increase in the number of dropships in use, to the point of random extra ones being made to fill the void. Any drop in numbers was probably due to people waiting for the LRM Missile patch, as the game was rather boring there for a bit.

IKR!!! the money is nuts. i am above 250k in earning on average after patch. without the 4 extra competent people working together, i get much more damage out on average, and much more kills, as the competition for them is half of what it was before.
