So I was doing a bit of playing around in the mech lab today with my Jenner. It is a 7-F. It is currently sporting an XL 300 engine with 2 additional heat sinks in the engine. 2 other single heatsinks were placed outside the engine for a total of 14. I have each arm equipped with a medium and a small laser. The mechlab calculates my heat efficiency to be 1.25.
Changing nothing else, if I upgrade to double heat sinks and remove the two sinks from outside the engine, the mechlab still calculates my heat efficiency to be 1.25. This doesn't make sense to me, as I calculated my heat efficiency with 12 1.4 heatsinks to be 1.5. My reasoning for this is that 12 1.4 Heat sinks should be the equivalent of 16.8 single sinks. I have also read that engine heat sinks are still treated as true double heat sinks. If this is correct, I should have the equivalent of 24 single sinks. Personally, this seems to be two much for any jenner, especially a laser boating one. However, the current setup doesn't seem to make sense either. I sure some of you with better knowledge of mechwarrior and battletech can sort this out for me.

Did you save the changes with doubles, exit the mechlab, and then enter it again to check the numbers?
Somtimes the builds do not save correctly.

Nope, I didn't upgrade just as a precaution. I will do this and see what happens.
EDIT: Well i figured out the problem. When I select double heat sinks, the game automatically REMOVES the additional engine heat sinks. The heat efficiency the mech lab shows is the heat efficiency of the mech with only engine double heat sinks. It would be nice if the game mentioned that when selecting DHS from the upgrade chart. It would have removed the confusion. Thanks.
