The game currently doesn't have any SSRM4s.
Artemis does not do anything to SSRMs.
If you run an A1 Streakapult you will be using 6xSSRM2.
This build is relatively fun to play, and chain-fire can make SSRMs disorient the opposing pilot.
Keep in mind SSRM2s just had their homing nerfed.
This build is an excellent scout hunter, and works very well with jumpjets.
I would use MButton1 as Alpha and MButton2 as chain-fire.
Personally I like the C1 variant better. I run it with 2 SSRM2s, 2 Med Lasers, and 2 PPCs
The K2 variant seems to be the most popular. This is the base of the 'Gausspult' build. It also is devastating with 4 Large Lasers and Double Heat Sinks.
Good luck...

you will be using 6 streak2's if you want streaks. just be aware that ssrm ammo is expensive, you have to be close to use them and will be taking a lot of fire causing high repair bills (on top of high ammo reload bills), and you will be a prime target for any team that notices you. And Artemis doesnt do anything for streaks.
if you went with a regular srm build you would have the same issues, except Artemis helps with their spread (they dont lock though) and will make your re-arm bills even higher.

SSRMs received a minor nerf in the last patch as well, their grouping was losened and they miss more often now. Was a needed nerf as before they were so tightly grouped you could alpha and have it look like one missile flying at the target. Otherwise I'l echo that it's expensive to run a streakcat. I personally run an Catapult A1, 4xSSRMs and 2x Artemis LRM10, one jump jet and a 295 XL engine with Endo internals and double heat sinks. Was pretty godly prior to LRMs being fixed in the hotfix and still pretty strong. You got to be good with torso twisting to spread damage though since all your weapons are in your arm pods. Maintain a distance between 180-275 with this set up and you can really put some hurt down.. till you run out of ammo. My repair rearm bills could routinely pass 200k though.

with endo steel, dhs and an xl engine. im running a streak cat with 4x ssrms, 1x lrm 15, 1x lrm 20. it work real nice because at 200m you can really unlease the pain with the lrms and ssrms at the same time.

very effective vs scouts otherwise its just fine.
as people have said you have the option of mounting as many lrms as you please.
artemis decreases the spread of srm's (not ssrms) marginally, owrth it but nothing to write home about
personally I favour a mix of streaks and srm's. the damage output on SRM's is _very_ high

You missed the fun times with streaks.

Fun may be the wrong word. They were very very effective, but they weren't necessarily fun to actually use.. it was basically playing a Quick Time Event for kills. You didn't even really need to look at what you were shooting more then once every couple seconds.

its fun.. you dish out less damage as before the nerf ( no wonder when you see sometimes 75% of your missles just missing .. even on an atlas )
but with training and skill you can perform a nice streak dfa
