Since a big part of the game coming up with new ideas for a loadout, or tweaking them, I propose a non-match option for dropping into either an on-server instance or a offline local instance for the purposes to test new loadout effectiveness, and to help beta test different components under controlled circumstances.

Could include auto piloted mechs as targets. a zone for light mech pilots to help them learn how to pilot faster mechs between terrain and buildings effectively.

I think it would be a nice tool to have both for the dedicated MWO fans and theory crafters, and for the newer players to get a feel for piloting a mech or to work out the kinks in a new setup (joystick piloting).

Great idea, I think that would really be a basic thing to implement.
And adding a recording/replay function to check how the lag changed your aim would be golden!

I would love somewhere to test load outs before I actually commit to one and take it into a game. Wouldn't even need auto-piloted mechs, I'm sure some sort of simple stationary target would work fine for most people. (Something seen in Tribes: Ascend and their target range.)

Also coming from the experience of someone rather new to all things Mechwarrior, when I first started playing I sure as heck could have used somewhere to practice moving around and getting things straight (like weapon groups) before I'm thrown into a match and become a useless asset to my team because I have no idea what the heck I'm doing.

I would also like this in game.

I would also like the idea of being able to mimic map conditions like the heat of caustic in order to really test out your build to see if it can handle the heat.

As for targets I think simple bulls-eye targets would work well enough, I think they would be more for testing heat build up in your mech.

i would like the targets to at least move back and forth so you can practice leading.

great idea, would definately be used by newbies such as myself and seasoned players. ...i would only add that the targets be of varying armor load outs to guage damage inflicted, and also each target have varying weapons shoting back so you can guage you defensive load out too. But still a great idea...
