Mg Take Half Ballistic Spot

Right now Machine Guns doesn't have any sense. Doubling it's damage would lead to something like small laser without heat and that would be umbalanced, but making MG take half ballistic spot would mantain the damage per tons of ammo as it is right now. In my opinion, that would lead to MGs finally viable. Anyone else share my thought?

Are you serious? You think that a weapon that takes half a ton + a MINIMUM of 1 ton of ammo to even use would be "op" if it could do the damage of a small laser that weighs half a ton and requires no ammo. The fact that the mgs in mwo are supposedly 20mm Gatling guns (just like in TT) and only do 0.04 Dmg per bullet instead of the 0.20 Dmg that they SHOULD be doing is just wrong.
Look at it this way|

Small Laser:
.5 tons
1 crit slot taken
Generates 3 heat
Requires no ammo
Range 90m - 180m
Current Dps - 1
Pros: Needs no ammo, generates little heat, takes only 1 crit slot.
Cons: Generates heat, Range limited

20mm Machine Gun:
.5 tons
At minimum 2 crit slots taken
generates no heat
Requires at least 1 ton of ammo
Range 90m - 180m
Current Dps - 0.40
Pros: Generates no heat, Has a higher chance to cause a crit to exposed components(no armor).
Cons. Weight constraints, Many crit slots needed to be viable, Range limited.

So you're going to tell me that even if they buffed MG Dmg to 0.08 per round so 0.80 Dps(unlike the 0.20 or 2 Dps it's supposed to be) instead of 0.04 or 0.40 Dps they would be "op"? I just wish they would give the MG the Damage its supposed to have so it would actually be a viable weapon instead of the joke it is now.

And now on to your suggestion, as for MGs only taking up half a ballistic slot it isn't really necessary because later in the timeline and therefore at a later date MG pods get created where 3 MGs take the place of 1.

i'm not saying that would be ''op''. I want developers do something on MGs, and if they didn't revamp them maybe it's because they think they are ok. but it's not. and calm down, no one touched your ***.

Maybe they just double the damage? I actually don't mind if they add heat and make it small laser equivalent of ballistic slots. It can't hurt.

The best way to balance the MG is to make it do the same damage or very slightly less damage than a small laser. Ballistic slots are generally at a premium or cannot be used. The small laser doesn't really even need a heatsink, so the MG takes up more criticals and has higher critical chance while having to deal with ammo.

Using half a ballistic slot does nothing and you're also asking the devs to affectively break the critical slot system. They'd accomplish the same effective goal by doubling its weight, damage, and ammo consumption and not break their system.

it' s the same, doubling the critical slot too. the thing i care is that i'm not the only one who think mgs are underpowered.
