Honestly, while the 1488 damage is impressive, what is even MORE impressive is just how horribly inefficient it was. I mean, even if it took 300 damage to kill a single enemy with direct fire, which is inefficient as it is, that would be enough damage to kill five enemy mechs. 1500 damage is what you'd expect if a single mech with direct fire weapons did 100% of the work to kill pretty much an entire team worth of mechs. That just goes to highlight just how horribly inefficient the damage application of LRM is.
