G'day PGI.

I had a look at the map descriptions, and liked what I saw. Good job, I like to have that sort of info to fill the picture.

Something is blatantly wrong with Caustic Valley.

Looking at the ambient temperature listed it reads at 85 degrees celcius.

There are pine trees on the map...........

I would suggest removing them and replacing with a form of imaginary microbe growth. It just does not "feel" as hot as it should. This is hard for me to convey, and I hope you can see where I am coming from.

Terraforming or not, trees will not survive 85 deg C.

Hope this makes sense, and keep up the great work. :)

EDIT: Fires are something that pass. (Just for those that want to cite trees surviving fire)

Yeah. Or how about remove all trees, since they're just annoying and get in the way.

THEY'RE ALIEN TREES DAMN IT!!!!

Never even occurred to me that the exterior temp on caustic pretty much guarantees no vegetation. There's an active caldera for god's sake.

i know right!?
i'd rather see some wildlife to shoot or something
big lizards or people in space suits, vehicles and destructable environments, no thanks on trees

The trees look out of place. Bizarre rock formations created by the acidic winds or plants that appear less like something from Earth would be a good replacement.

I would certainly like for the more alien environments to look well....other worldly.

You will be surprised at how life can adapt to harsh environments.

really of all the things to complain about. All they have done reuse the asset for another map to give it something else or the whole map would feel pretty dead. yes they get in the way at times but come on. its a WIP and beta. if your going to complain about maps try frozen city with all the bad AI & Collision data (getting stuck on objects that aren't there) or bad or missing textures.

At the end of the day trees aren't stopping you playing, maybe when they have finished the desert map we're getting they might change the trees

 The trees on caustic have been bothering me too.
If you insist on adding vegetation to that map at least make it look like plants that evolved to survive in those conditions.

Granted plants on earth can't actually survive soil with a high salinity, they'd probably look like cacti.
Or aeonium, aichryson or greenovia genus of plants. Small meaty leaves. Shortish and lush. etc. Make them in a strange colour like purple and no one would question it. ;)

Agree wth all above and :
What about damage taken while in actve randomly shooting caldera or one of the gazers there.
Water? NO. Acid with water = yes make sense to cause dmg while standing in those lakes damaging legs slowly overtime.

Probably a placeholder, doubt the devs were stupid enough to put pine-type trees in what amounts to a giant boiler.

Is the whole thing most of the way to boiling, or just the caldera? *looks out office window* Pine trees can form loggable forests in environments that easily reach 35-40C in the summer months, with moderate rainfall.

There's also the question ofhow long it's been that hot. If the geothermal activity ramped up only recently, a dying forest makes sense.

Of course we've all been fighting there long enough for the trees to all die by now, probably...

Really need more map variety.

Not a complaint mate.

An observation and a suggestion.

When you think about it , the small things add up to the greater experience.

^ very much this. Having sections of the map where there's a tactical tradeoff between a route to be taken, which may be faster/more direct/a sneaky way to go, but having it cause damage or spike heat, would be an interesting trade-off.

Further, it would make the choice to have robust jumpjets in a mech a more valid tactical option.

Giving us players more tactical dimensions to take advantage of makes this game more fun.

It's called CAUSTIC VALLEY. How could this not be a part of the map?
