I'm ok with that answer haha. I think setting it in 3025 would have solved a huge number of problems.

but the clan players from the other games would have whined without their OP clan gear...(some not all) atleast now the (unspoken but assumed) promise that OP gear to come keeps them qiet...

Well, every the time units from House Liao engaged those of the Clans, the former were victorious.

To be fair though we sent in Warrior House Daidachi and 1st MAC, so it wasn't like they were ever in a position to lose...

The idea is that Clans don't belong in BattleTech. Posted Image

If Stakpole's chosen allied with the Clans instead of fighting them, those two units would never return home.

Too right. If Stackpole had written it they'd have been annihilated by farmers with pitchforks, never mind them being elite, professional, military units.

What if, what if...

It is for shure that the IS would be more interesting with a Rasalhague Republic and without barrelborn invaders...
But even if they`d crushed the IS via the Taurian Concordate or Canopus they would have been stopped by the mighty CC.
We are not idiots like the Dracs, who`s honour cost em half their reign, just because they found someone to go on duel with...
We are no Feddies that let themselves switch to fight for the Clans like a pet does in WoW...
We are Liao, if Flamers and Infernos didn´t stop em, we would have gased the whole Frontline and Nucleared everything beyond...
Or did the Clans firm the Ares Treaties?

@ Lio Lio

Your House Leaders have brain washed you. It is not that Clan tech is made over powered, but that constant needless war had kept IS tech under powered. IOW the problem is NOT that the Clans had leaped forword, but that the IS had held its self back.

We don't keep ourselves back. Look at Raven, the most sofisticated machine of 3049, or the stealth armor later on... :)

Headache. Actually the problem is that it seems like somebody at FASA wanted to create some 'Mechs to be 'boss characters' to challenge some players he was GM'ing for in a campaign, and then some other ***** ended up writing those characters into the universe as trumped-up Mary Sues jumping into the game to ruin everybody's fun. And then YET ANOTHER ***** attempted to make those characters "cool" and "relate-able" to adolescent nerds who wish they could be school bullies AND furries at the same time.

Please do not confuse canon with reality.

Ya know, that made me think.

All this topic has done is talk about what happened in CANON.

If this is going to be an alternate time line, why do we care what is supposed to happen?

I say forget the clans, they'll run out of mechs before they get to us anyway.

Lets use them as a distraction while we stomp on Davions.

So what if another couple dozen FedCom and Drac worlds fall? No skin off any part of my anatomy.

I wouldn't attack FedSuns world, only those CC worlds that are currently under foreign control (Andurien, Tikonov, Sarna, and so on). ;)

Tsk, tsk, typical FedCom propaganda. Of course we took part in Operation Bulldog and Snake, and also fought on Strana Metchty.

The units in question were the Red Lancers and Kingston Rangers (and Harloc Raiders were part of the coalition force sent to Coventry).

One of the Warrior Houses also tested its mettle shortly after Tukayyid against the Steel Vipers, gotta check which it was once I'm at home.

I notice that you make no mention of the 1st and 2nd St. Ives Lancers or the St. Ives Cheveau Legers, all of which served in Operation Bulldog. Does this mean that you do not consider these units to be Capellan? *whistles*
