Alright, explain me this. I'm using a Commando and I get fall damage for EVERYTHING. I mean, I go up little rock and go down, fall damage. Going downhill too fast, fall damage, touching a teammate, fall damage. going uphill, fall damage. falling less than a meter, fall damage.

I MEAN, WHY? I'm a scout, I NEED to go fast and move through non-flat areas. Why do I get fall damage for everything?!?!

Last round I came up to RED External Armor damage before confronting an enemy directly. Needless to say I got both my legs blown off when I did.

This really needs to get fixed. Once I got bugged with a teammate and lost a leg at the start of the round.

Do you agree?

They should just turn up sensitivity for what counts as fall damage for lights. I agree with you though; if I simply run my Jenner along the natural contours of a map, even the simplest of hills will give me fall damage.

Edit: People voting no, can you explain why? Is it natural for my mech to sustain leg damage for running up and down gently sloping hills?

I'm not 'that new' but with this patch I get fall damage a lot more often than before, even with Jump-Jets.

And please, someone explain why "no"

Only two patches ago it was much better. You could actually fall a certain distance without getting damaged. For whatever reason, they switched it back.

Absolutely NO. You're running too fast in rough terrain. Since we don't have a computer to auto-adjust the mech speed to fit the terrain, it's up to you to pay attention. I run a Commando too. As long as you avoid the rocks and USE your "S" key, you'll be okay. It won't help you getting clipped by your teammates every bloody damn time at the start of a match, but it's a start.

Apparrently it's counting all motion as falling. I've noticed this a lot in my jenner, if I do a lateral jumpjet maneuver, I will always take fall damage no matter how (vertically) soft I land, because it's counting my 149kph lateral movement as my falling movement, and then applying damage to my legs based on that.

Makes pulling those armored-core style NEXT stunts punishing on your leg armor!

Edit, Disclaimer: I'm not implying I should be able to hop, spin 180 degrees and glide at 149kph while firing on targets chasing me, land and immediately change direction WITHOUT taking ANY leg damage, even though it is possible in tabletop, just that the issue is that whenever you force a fall damage check, the game is checking your total velocity, and not your falling velocity.

I can go base jumping in my hunchback and often take no damage.

I feel sorry for lights who have exploding knees.

No I don't, I hate lights and prioritize murdering them

Yes, but only on lights. Meds and up seem fine.

In a heavy Mech its not as bad, but I did get damage walking off a small elevation that should not have damaged legs imo (or for which a pilot skill with a certain level should suffice to negate damage).

I think they could tone the damage down a bit (and more than a bit for light), but also add an RPG "Piloting" skill that would reduce the odds of falling (when they re-implement collisions) and that reduces falling damage. (It could even be 2 skills, Balance[bonus to stay standing] and Absorb Collision[reduces fall/collision damage] ).

The fall damage is stupid. 50cm drop at 10 kph seems to damage the legs on my mech. I mean I can understand if you drop a large distance, but I am just going off a slightly elevated platform for massive fall damage.

I don't know what you are doing, I fell down off various cliffs and houses and never took damage.

Untrue, this happens in a Cicada all the time as well (a Medium regardles of anyone's 'personal take' on the matter) - and FYI, it can and DOES happen on FLAT, LEVEL ground. I pay attention to land-scape, etc. Perhaps the nay-sayers are the ones who need to be paying closer attention rather than handing us a "L2P" response in a clearly bug-ridden game. Seriously.

Hey; if you think you've found a bug, report it. I've been paying attention too, and the sensitivity seems to be just about right on my 120kph Commando. Rocks, sharp edge drops, and deep dips bash my legs up when I run over 90kph.

NOT enough fall damage.

First: You NEVER fall now tripping has been removed.
Try again later when its re-implimented.

Second: There IS NO fall damage any more.
You can drop a 65 tonne mech from 12 stories and your legs are perfectly fine... WHAT? 65 tonnes would PANCAKE at that height.

Third:
You weigh TONNES and, especially in the case of light mechs, you travel exceptionally fast. You SHOULD get heaps of damage for being a stupid pilot and tripping/falling your mech.
Pilot like you mean it.

Stepping on a rock and having my legs go to yellow armor is just dumb. Sure, falling off a cliff should hurt, but moving over slightly rough terrain? Isn't that why mechs have legs instead of wheels or treads in the first place?

Who's dropping from 12 storeys? Try to follow the entire conversation. This is about normal map navigation. Maybe if it happened to you you'd realize that it's glitchy, especially for lights. We're talking normal map travel and miniscule heights that until recently did no damage, and now do arbitrary damage.

It's not like there's actively deadly terrain on any map; this is pure normal traveling doing unwarranted drop-velocity damage at random times. As was said before, a few patches ago falling was decent, where you took damage for actual drops and not merely from moving across the map. Before THAT patch, drop damage was stupid for everyone, but it still didn't yellow people in the legs from mere travel.
