It begins as I move into the lake area to press an attack against an enemy Atlas who'd gotten too close. Pounding my weapons into him, he goes down just as I run out of Gauss ammo and am heavily overheated. Most players on both teams are destroyed; there's sporadic fighting across the map and at our base but I've got more pressing things to worry about: A Hunchback leering down on me.

He's heavily injured. His CT armor is a deep orange; his RT has been stripped, the exposed structure red. He's packing a pair of SRM6s, one on each shoulder, and he's headed straight at me - not even bothering to try and evade fire. He doesn't have to. I let one ER LL shot off and quickly spike to 100% heat, but thankfully hit the override so I don't shut down. He gets into range, and starts laying into me with his SRMs. Before we began, I was only lightly damaged, having evaded enemy attention most of the match.

So I sit there, slowly waiting for my heat to dissipate. He fires again. And again. I'm at 75%heat now, and my LT armour has already been stripped; he's firing directly into my components and there's nothing I can do. He's far more nimble than I am and easily out-maneuvers me. Finally I realize waiting for my heat to dissipate enough for my ERLLs is pointless; so I start firing my two MPLs, into his exposed RT. I get 2 volleys off before my heat hits the upper 90s again. Effectively, I'm dead. I can't even fire my smallest weapons without almost instantly overheating, while he has all the freedom in the world to lay into me with his ironically much more powerful weapons. So much for piloting the heaviest, most feared Battlemech ever to exist in all of human history. I am little more than a walking target, the laughing stock of the Inner Sphere, and open game for everything from Commandos to Hunchbacks.

So what's the point? This isn't Mechwarrior. This is some bastardization, the product of developers whose only prior experience in gaming development is big Bass fishing and bargain-bin racing games that nobody has ever heard of. Good luck getting anybody to play your game; now I understand why you removed the "Current players" number in the Launcher. I too would want to hide the one undeniable benchmark of my failure.

I laugh when those trial-K's try to brawl like they are a real atlas. It's ridiculously simple to side core them in brawling range.

Trial mechs need their own games. They all seem to have an easily exploited weakness.

any assault mech is designed to be supported theyre not "tanks" per se but "Tanky DPS" lets put this in League of Legends terms... while you do an awful lot of damage to a target you can catch a fast ranged ad carry will simply pick you apart from a safe distance without your team to back you up, as you can easily be out maneuvred one on one

So the game is broken because you got you tail handed to you? Let see you took on One enemy removed it from the fight but before you could cool off one of there medium started to attack you hard. If he was already cool at the start of his attack on you, he did his job right. Sorry to say over 5/8 of any one game odds are their mech is out of the fight at the end. Getting your tail spanked going to happen in this game ALOT.

There is more to this game than rolling stats at each other.

The end.

I love when people announce they are leaving but never do, and then complain because they happened to lose ONE battle.

Everybody loses every now and then. Take your licks and move on. This game would suck if the Atlas ***** and pillaged everything.

At this point it's less the content of his posts that are amusing and more the fact that he keeps coming back trying to champion the same issue even thought it's already being addressed.

I love when fan boys rabidly tear into any one making criticism of 'their' game, thinking that it is some how being protected and saved by their valiant defense against the unwashed masses.

The problem is bro, you are probably stopping the devs from actually taking a look at what MIGHT well be a serious problem that new players are facing.

and as we all know, games where a rabid fan base loudly decries all criticism always succeeds. You know exactly like hellgate london amirite?

K makes for a pretty terrible trial 'Mech. Solution is to play a little less terrible trial 'Mech instead ;)

It's ok if you play it real cowardly like. But a new player will see it and go "100 ton assault mech GOOO!"

So let me get this right. You're running a Guassaphalt with a ER LL and MPL's and not enough heatsinks to counter the heat buildup? Thats not the the game is unbalanced. Thats you not constructing a good build, or not using the mech effectively.

But by the sounds of it Mechwarrior isn't the game for you. But dont' fret there is another game that [REDACTED] you can go and play. It's called Hawken.

So please go and leave your hate in their forums.

I think this seems to be more of an argument that trial mechs are far too gimped against pimped out mechs, possibly even that trial mechs are gimped against mildly customized mechs. The argument is not "I lost a battle and this game sucks." Its "I lost a battle and because trial mechs are fairly awful I could have done absolutely nothin to change the outcome of this battle" which is, generally, true.

just be better at aiming lol that gauss can cap people pretty efficiently if you aim really well i got 2-3 kills per round in it by popping gauss and large lasers on canopies rather than just aiming center of mass EDIT: they have to be occupied elsewhere or perfectly focused on taking out the Gauss rifle you have

You are right I haven't, but it's a pattern i've seen time and time again in new MMOs and open beta'd projects, where people with valid complaints make posts about an issue that will effect a large number of new players and the 'old guard' loudly shout them down. The attitude is hugely prevalent and problematic. I'd go as far as saying it's cancerous to the feedback process. So many games have been utterly ruined because of it that otherwise had good potential.
