So once I have all 8 basic in 3 varients of my Jenner, I can sell 2 and still unlock elite skills on my main?

Somebody should post a screenshot of it as I don't have access to the game client right now.

gxp is at the bottom just right of the cbills.

to see mech xp, click the "pilot" tab at top, the "mech trees" tab under that, a category tab (the mech profiles for light, mid, etc.), and then the chassis you want to see.

hope that helps.

I always wonderd, if i unlock master level, do the elite skills get doubled like the basic?

As i said in my previous post. No.

To unlock Master you need to complete Elite skills in 3 mechs of the same weight class. Makes sense that you use the same 3 as last time since they already have elite unlocked.

Yes but you won't be able to unlock Master level as that requires 3x Elite levels. That was my mistake on my C4, I had to rebuy it in order to research Elite so I could get Master level on my C1 Founders 'Cat.

No they don't, only Basic level gets doubled.

So is it correct that you need to purchase three mechs, then unlock all basic trees on each mech, then unlock all elite trees on each mech, then you can unlock the master tree your one primary mech?

Not quite.

To unlock elite you must unlock basic on three variants of the same mech.

To unlock master you need to unlock elite on three mechs of the same weight class.

Though it is obviously easier to just unlock elite on the three variants you also unlocked basic on, it is not necessarily your only option.

Means that once you have one chassis "mastered" and want to do a second one in the same weight class, your saved some grinding since you only need to take 2/3 chassis to 8/8 basic and the 3rd one you can get elite and master on.

I wish it would have told me before I sold my cplt-A1 after unlocking the Basic tree. Now I have to buy it again.

Any recommendations on modules?

I used the PiP zoom and was underwhelmed. 2 mill c bills I want back.

Does the Master slot just give you a 2nd module slot?

Module slots depend on the 'Mech variant - for example, the three Jenners we can currently buy have 1 (JR7-D), 2 (JR7-F) or 3 (JR7-K) slots respectively. I have also heard that the Raven will have many module slots to better represent its technological capabilities. It is my understanding that "Mastering" a 'Mech simply adds another module slot on top of the chassis standard.

As for what the modules do, I believe it is completely intentional for them to be somewhat "underwhelming". They are nice little gadgets that can give you an edge, but nothing that would boost your capabilities so much that - together with all the other upgrades and unlocks you likely have at this point - you would completely dominate the playing field thanks to them.

In my opinion, the zoom module might be nice for those "snipers" who like to shoot from afar but still retain area awareness of what happens in their immediate surroundings. Likewise, the capture module is nice for those players who tend to "base rush", or perhaps if you simply do not know what else to use. Personally, of the modules currently available, I like the sensor upgrade the most, as it lets me scan and identify an opponent a few seconds earlier than normal. I am piloting a Jenner with skirmish tactics, so this is valuable knowledge that will determine whether I rush in and engage (if it is an enemy scout), or pull back to friendly lines (if it's a bigger enemy I cannot take down before his friends arrive).

I would like to remind folks that there will be a dropship game mode , that will require you to use 4 different mechs.

It will allow us to basically respawn 3 times , but you will need to have all of those mechs selected before the drop .

so I would think carefully before selling those mechs.

So this may be a silly question but when they say weight class that is like light, med, heavy so on? Or is that like 50 ton mech. I was thinking of doing raven and commando but only if its by class and not tons.

Master level is pointless at this stage anyway unless you really want to have all three modules.

If you buy the first 8 basics for a chassis, then sell it, then buy it back, are the 8 basics still in effect or do you need to re-purchase them?

Not General XP but Mech XP. GXP is used for the Pilot tree, MXP is for the Mech tree.

Also don't sell your variants too soon because you need to own each variant you want to unlock proficiencies on.

I made that mistake on my C4 Cat and that cost me 5 million C-Bills!

thank you for the info !

Sell nothing and Master all. You never know one day they may make a Grand Master Level requiring say 3 Master of 3 Assault Chasis to Open Grand Master Assault Efficeincies. Unless you HAVE to sell something in MWO your often better off keeping it. Wont it suck if they do this to unlock say a Clan Assault chasis and you sold all your extra Assault variants without mastering them all.

This whole concept needs rethinking. Most of these skills have nothing to do with the pilot, but the mech equipment. Yes it will suck if we get in that spot because they haven't thought this out long term. These are limited right now and it's not clear to most how to make the most of these skills and where they will go in the end.

Bottom line is pick a mech you like to master in, cause you will be grinding in the weight class a long time to get it unlocked.
