November 20th is coming up, and its going to be Cataphract pandemonium on the battlefield. Plenty of us are anxious to fill our garages with the new chassis, so post your thoughts on the variants, and share some build ideas. I'll start.

ill start with the CTF-3D and swap the 280 XL engine for a standard 225 to 250. I do this to free up room in the torso to swap the lbx10ac for an ac20. If slots permit u will also use Endo steelstructure to gain the extra needed tonnage for armor and ammunition.

Depends entirely how many hardpoints are on them...

I'd love a dual gauss Cataphract, but it might not be possible. I might also load one up with pulse lasers and srm's, if there's one available with just missile and beam hardpoints.

Your going to have to replace that XL engine for a standard if you want that ac/20.

I'll begin with the CTF-3D with DHS. I'll then swap out the LBX-10AC for my AC-20. With the remaining tonnage I will slap on as much armor as possible and possibly an extra ton or two of ac20 ammo.

Tempted to try a jumping sniper. 2x Gauss, 2x ML though I might try to swing in later a PPC. Something like this:

Well, like i did on the catapult, I'll be trying to build a marauder - like loadout on the cataphract.^^

Dual PPC, some lasers... AC5 / UAC5 probably won't fit in there, if I don't want it to be overheated all the time...

With 2 Balistic hardpoints in the arms and JJ's, I see the Phract becoming the "snap sniper" Mech many of us have been waiting for. :D

Now if I could only find that Hula Girl Module......

The Cataphract can easily do dual Gauss and have pretty much maxed armor. I believe its the 4x that will have an AC5 in each arm stock and an XL engine can easily be mounted with Endo a few medium lasers in the CT(If it gets more than one energy HP there) and 7-8 tons of ammo. It gets a better range of fire from the arm mounted Gauss and if you use a standard engine then it can zombie mech too. Funny when I made my account I totally didn't even realize a mech named the Cataphract existed, but I'll totally try them out lol.

AFAIK, those canon cataphracts who have two ballistic weapons have one in an arm and one in the torso. Just saying.

The 4x will have at least one ballistic in each arm stock.

Got it. 2x Gauss 1x ER Large

Slots and what not may change in practice of course but should be a fun mech.

Except for the 4X which has an AC/5 in each arm. However, it has no JJs. The 3D does, but it has the ballistics divided between arm and torso as you say. Makes hitting the same location with both more difficult.

I'm currently saving some CBills so I can buy and customize at least the 2X and 4X right when they arrive (13 million atm). Plan to buy the 3D for the jumping, too.

Side torsos seem to be more exposed on this one than on the other heavies, so I will stay clear of XL engines.

I see the sniping role this mech could play and I do not disagree. However I think that this particular chassis will be more useful on the front line. Why? Its a big target and will surely generate more aggro because of this. Not to mention the ballistics backed up by four medium lasers. The jump jets would be put to better use in urban combat to out manuever your equals in the thick of the firefight

This is true as well. The cataphract will make for a solid mech in the field.

I am personally eagerly awaiting "The Cataphract IS OP" Threads. Not to mention the glowing anticipation for the word puns concerning CATApult and CATAphract.

Attack of the Gausscats!
Hey look it's a one sided Furball!
Shutdown mech?...that Cat's in heat!
It's raining Cats and gauss!

It's going to be awful and probably painful at times but should be spectacularly entertaining.
Although from a fan perspective I am really looking forward to tinkering with this chassis, we need another Heavy and adding this one will also make the Dragon standout in the weight class. Under rated Mech IMO.

I found this quote from awhile ago about pricing:

View PostViktor Drake, on 31 October 2012 - 04:10 PM, said:

They released the Catapracht Prices:

1X = ~ 6.5 Million - 2300 MC
2X = ~ 6.2 Million - 2200 MC
3D = ~ 11.0 Million - 4000 MC
3L = ~ 10.5 Million - 3900 MC
4X = ~ 6.1 Million - 2100 MC

Source: Patch notes email sent Oct 25, 2012

They have not release any of the other mechs expected prices yet.

EDIT: a note about the -4X, the engine it comes with stock only moves you at atlas speed. That 'mech be slow. Also, the -1X has only one ton of AC ammo and so only gets 12 shots with its AC10. That's why I'm looking primarily at the -2X.

365, I think, since 1.3 * 280 = 364
