Just searching around for some K2 builds that are not gausspaults or dual AC20 builds that are instantly hated on.

So far I have got myself a K2 with endo steel and dual heatsinks. I've been using dual AC5s and quad medium lasers, but have also considered switching to dual AC2 and a pair of Large lasers.

Does anybody else have any neat configs they like to use?

Twin Gauss, twin MLAS. Sorry, but that's how I like her:P
Standard config is pretty nice too if you drop the MGs and play around with the heatsinks.

Dont give two flying horseradishes what other people think about your build, if it works for you and you enjoy playing in it go for it; if it gets the job done its good enough.

I used a single gauss for a while, but i think im warming up to the dual AC5 more. At some point in the future i'm going to see if a Jagermech or cataphract can do dual AC10s without horrible heat/ammo concerns.

I always liked the K2 with 2 Large pulse lasers and 2 medium pulse lasers, and a boatload of heatsinks.

MPLs in the arms, LPLs in the R/L torso.

Add MGs for the grinding noise!

Right now I'm rolling with quad Large Lasers and an AC/5 on my K2. Add an XL Engine and Dual Heatsinks and you can sure manage to throw out some insane damage. Large Lasers do a real nice job of chipping away at armour and the AC/5 adds a nice little punch when you need it.

I play a couple different configs for my K2: One has 2 ER PPC and 2 ER Larges and the other has 2 ER Larges and 2 Large Pulses. I tend to prefer the all laser over the PPCs because I'm lazy and dont have to lead my target with lasers.

I cant say i like the LBX too much, but quad ERLL is sounding pretty good right now.

Then again, I could do three on my founders, that might be fun.

I run a K2 with a single gauss and two large lasers. Trading off shots with the two weapon types lets me handle heat pretty easily and I don't require an XL which keeps costs down.

My current K2 build has dual Gauss and dual ERPPCs packed in, all colocated in the side torsos.

I'm completely serious. Only fits 3 tons of ammo... but it tends to kill in one or two shots.

My current K2 has 2 UAC/5 and 4 med lasers on it, may not be the most effective build but I'm having tons of fun with it and I love the sound and look of the ACs firing.

I'm using 280xl, DHS and Endo. Weapons are a single gauss with 4t ammo, 2xLLas and 2xSLas. I just realised I had a tonne of AC5 ammo in a leg, that was stupid. Dropped a little bit of armour from legs and arms and could fit AMS with a single tonne of ammo on.

I tried the same build with 2xAC5 but it wasn't really worth it, the gauss is lighter by one tonne, more damage and longer range. I can see the point of 2xUAC5 but I don't have macros so it isn't a viable weapon

This looks pretty good, although a bit hot. Medium lasers are mainly a backup if you lose a arm:

I'll post the full build on this tomorrow. It's turning out to be lots of fun. Of course it's listed as 'hated'. :D

Dual AC/20 and Quad Medium Laser K2 with DHS and Endo Steel. Moves like an Atlas tho with the 200 std engine. 14 shots with dual AC/20s and the quad Medium Lasers ensure that you can keep fighting 'til the end of the game. Makes for a nice 60 damage Alpha Strike too. :)

How? do you rip out the engine and replace with a 130 XL?

My K2, which I enjoy quite a lot, is a very basic setup.

You use two PPCs, and fill every available slot with double sinks.

It's not exactly heat-neutral, but it's remarkably close on cold maps. I tossed a medium laser for an AMS, bulked up the armor, and you've got a mech. Sure, it's not the most impressive build, but it is very, very cheap to maintain, great fire support, and you get the deeply satisfying feeling of firing PPCs as fast as you possibly can, since the advantage they have is a rather quick firing rate.

It is pretty weak to scouts getting up in your face, but that could also just be my horrible, horrible internet connection contributing there, too.

I'm still absolutely fascinated by this double-PPC, double-AC/20 build, and feel I absolutely must try this, now.

EDIT: So, after some fiddling around with the loadout, I tried the double-double build. It doesn't work with DHS, apparently, because there aren't proper slots for you to fit as many heat sinks as you need. Also, you end up with just paper-thin armor. That must be a very, very scary build.

I think most people going this build skimp on the engine, not on the armor.

2x Large lasers on hands
1x ER Large Laser
1x Medium laser
standard engine
endo steel
and enough double heatsinks to keep it cool.
Doesn't do much damage but it's perfect for cutting off hands from long distance and melting down cockpits.
