Just a reminder to ensure you adhere to the Community Guidelines: attack the argument not the person.

Cheers!

All right. Here's the torso+arm twist numbers for the two 'mechs:
Commando: 90+40
Jenner: 120+0

There you have it; an indisputable, numerical, fact-based advantage the Commando has over the Jenner. 10 degrees more reach to each side.

I would call that a fairly debatable advantage.

The Jenner can get torso weapons cranked 30 degrees further than the Commando and the Commando can get arm weapons 10 degrees more than the Jenner.

Also figure in the additional torso twist skill. I'm not sure if it's +10 degrees or +10% degrees but the latter would give the Jenner a 132 degree twist with 0 arm and a Commando 99 degree twist with 40 arm.

Commando is good and proper Davion mech, (ok, Stainer has some too), Jenner is Kuritsu trash, and don't even get me started on Ravens and those backstabing Liao. (read way too much lore :))

I believe the Commando is a Steiner Mech... but since Steiner favors Assaults it doesn't really matter. The Commando is basically the baby toy. That's the ride the kids are in at the playground. The men pilot a Zeus for their scout Mech.

Cookie for being white?

As it happens I live in Seattle and I'm very dissatisfied with how the state is spending my tax money if that's the best they can manage for public education.

I don't think you understand the bills/laws we just passed?

nah, not really true at all. If the person piloting the jenner is as good or better of a pilot then sure, but jenner pilots too often get used to circling down big slow mechs and not mechs with equal or greater speed.

If I'm understanding your statement correctly, you're saying that the commando is fine because it can kill bad jenner pilots but not a jenner piloted by someone of equal skill? /boggle

Commando is better for moral reasons. I win.

Why? It will just come up again next week if not in a few days. I get razzed in TS all the time, "You know Jenners have jump jets." Yeah I know, thank you.

What do commandos do?
They add variety to the game. Same with the other 200 something mechs chassis. If everyone min-maxed the game and ran nothing but jenners, cats and atlases, then the game would be pretty fraking boring now wouldn't it? Might as well play halo or whatever the big mindless fps' is these days.

Be happy there are commandos, be happy there is something other than the min-maxer mechs... it's what separates us from them.

If you don't go commando then the terrorists have already won.

Very few use the commando in combat like it's supposed to be used.

It's your light mech support. it's small, fast, can pack a nice little punch. As with the hunchback and centurian, wait till mechs are fighting in the grand melee and go in and help. Chances are your going to get ignored and your going to get alot of nice back shots.

It takes a very good pilot - that's one of it's huge drawbacks.

I've ran both a Commando and a Jenner. I have more fun in the Commando because I like having real arm weapons. Also I probably averaged more damage in my Commando than I did in my Jenner. I also feel like I live longer in the Commando because I'm able to spread out my incoming damage better and I'm a little harder to hit. Though this could be because I have more experience with the Commando.
