MW4 JJs are fine. The problem was in the (nonexistent) physics that allowed to gather vertical speed by bumping a 45 degree surface and using it for momentum.

I'm an advocate of fitting JJs to any mech though. Nothing's scarier than a flying Fafnir.
There may be some penalties though.
