The suggestion of making some training grounds for the new players to learn how to pilot and fight is a sound one--adding 3rd person at this point takes away from the whole, "I can't watch my back, and thus I need a team" aspect. Situational awareness should be one of those things that's limited by our chassis choices and supplemented by working with each other--not by hitting the "I have an omniscient view of what's around me" button.

It's not a simple yes or no issue. If anything PGI asked this question way too early because 90% of the players on the beta are hard core MW fans.
See the relation to the polls?
If anything they should just forgo the whole 3rd person idea until new players join the game so they can get an accurate poll. I say this because I have friends new to MW and they agree on both the issues that are/have been addressed to 3rd person but would still like the option.
If you think PGI are intentionally going to introduce a game breaking feature then I question why you became a founder.

The ONLY time I can see this being useful in ANY way is if it used as a spectator view for either players who have died, or spectators, which includes filming of games.
This game is meant to be about immersion into the Battletech / Mechwarrior universe. Addting 3rd person cheapens that immersion imho.

yes, yes it is. Paul said No. Now? PGI plays the liar and says yes? We cannot trust them if they do this. Simply put: we all say no.

i became a founder, because when they went on sale, I had faith in PGI and the franchise. Today that faith is lost with the suggestion of third person.

No third person! If you like the idea **** off and go play one of the million shooters out their your minds can handle. This is as duh as jamming gauss rifles into machine gun ports. No, its worse.

3PV will make this a shooter, not a simulator. So ask yourselves, "What am I trying to build here?" If the answer is "Sim" then just put in your announcement threads something like "Thanks for your input, but a 3PV is not compatible with what we're building." If it's a shooter then you should have had 3PV from the start. If you don't know, then you're in bad shape.

its the same with a mech, combat awareness gets developed thanks to being forced to see only what the hud let you see, no more no less.
3rd person view is... making things easy.
now is you use a PROBE or a DRONE fine, but you are leaving the mech on its own luck and thats fair enough

And I have my doubts whether there will be much sympathy for any victims in this particular case.
'Try alt-f2 to alt-f6? gives you different zoom angles. it crashes the game sometimes, but usually it will work after a few tries'
