A 3rd person view is instantly destructive to game immersion, and moves MWO from a simulator to an action shooter. In addition, the expanded field of view gives a distinct, and perhaps insurmountable, advantage over anyone in 1st person, rendering 1st person play obsolete.
I hope that the preceding 48 pages of negative comments demonstrate to Russ and the other developers that the inclusion of a 3rd person mode is unacceptable to a community which has supported PGI financially to an unprecedented level.
As a note for those who are concerned with not being able to see their shiny new mech, I believe the appropriate solution to that is a properly implemented mechlab allowing us to view, rotate, and save mechs and designs without having to purchase every option, and a training ground system to allow field testing of designs without dropping them into competitive play.

The 'mech's are downright beautiful in this game and you should be able to see your mech in action, just NOT DURING the
action.
If this hubub is all about the newbies then why not spend the dollars to have a practice area like the old Tie Fighter training scenario. Shooting blocks and holographic targets. Have someone yell at how terrible you are over the comms when you miss. The game needs a training or practice map not live-action third person views.
Hope that has been helpful. Still love this game!

already in place: C on defaults.

PGI: We cannot be any more clear, do not do this please.
Hate to be a nitpicker but C centres torso on legs, not legs on torso.
Mechwarrior 2 had both options from memory, and centering legs on torso I think is a great option.
That being said, still no for 3rd person, unless used in a limited way.

I also remember there distinctly being a promise of no third person perspective.
3rd person for replays/observing is fine though.

If they are going to add a 3rd person cheat mode and not work on things that actually need attention then i'm going to not be very happy. It seems these devs just CAVE to whiners, and not the ones who have legitimate complaints like people not wanting 3rd person mode. Like "oh my jenner is tripping because i am a ****** pilot and can't sit behind an atlas with him walking on me REMOVE TRIPPING" ****. I think if they cave to the shitties on this issue I may just quit the game.

You promised Mechwarrioir in a way a Veteran player would love, don t eat your word away.
I trust you, I promoted your job with everyone I know, I bought a Founder pack to show my support....
Put 3d view in.. and I m simply out. Plain and simple. I will refuse to play another abomination. Are you gonna make this slowly a crap like Mechassault?
Tell me know so I can save a lot of my time.
