Look at the bottom of the page, bottom right corner. Big Yellow Box. They DO need more people, that is why they are looking to hire.

Funny there are 4000 votes for yes... almost none for no, and yet you still see a fanboy telling someone off, to go play another title.

Do you guys really wonder why you can't grow your community??

Read that again sir... 4000 no 250 yes.

Also is it just me who reads the threads title and thinks "The Oh Shot!"???

Huh? There are 252 votes for YES, 4117 for NO, 29 for NO OPINION and 163 for INDIFFERENT.

That means that 90% of the people that voted do NOT want 3rd person view. Not sure what poll you were reading.

So let me get this straight:

We're thinking about adding in a feature that we originally said we ABSOLUTELY WON'T EVER ADD IN because "some people are having trouble [piloting the mechs]."

...

Does skill not matter any more? Does that mean all my hard work to become a GOOD mech pilot in 1st person view is for naught? Not to mention the fact that there are hordes of bugs and balance issues that desperately need addressing.

PGI, this game has so much potential. Don't let the dollar signs and whiners control the game's direction. Lowering your standards just because some people can't handle them is a poor excuse. Don't give in, I beg of you.

Hmm.. this thread is still going? Didn't PGI already say that 3rd person was something that would most likely never make it in to the game. As they said IF they figure out how to put it in without it having all the problems 3rd person normally has, then they would, but I don't think a single company has figured out how to do that to date. Well WoT kinda did, but no one likes massive ninja tanks sneaking up on ya 50 ft away from your face.

This is meant to be a simulator. There are visual queues on screen that tell you where your legs are pointing (if the direction you are moving in relation to the direction you are facing isn't obvious enough). People need to learn to use them. Situational awareness is what separates the men from the boys. Maintaining aim on a moving target while strafing and avoiding running into obstacles is where player skill comes in. Any changes should be to encourage player skill, not take from it. 3rd person view should only be a spectator option.

My god your right.. there really is no hope for you all. I officially give up. You really seem dead set on having a unpopular game hit the market.

You know a few months ago there was a thread, it got to 100 pages of telling the devs not only no, but F@CK NO!

3rd person is a horrible idea and this isn't mechassault trash.

I think third person, implemented right, would put the situational awareness that Battlemechs had back in the game.

In canon, Battlemechs have a 360 degree field of view using a compressed view for most of it. The devs had said this couldn't be implemented for various technical reasons. The result was like looking down a pipe; extremely poor situational awareness. To me, this sure doesn't "simulate" 31st century combat in the ultimate war machine.

Implement third person view to make up for the problem with situational awareness, but don't allow any weapons fire while in third person view. Would make the mechs feel more like powerful war machines and not a lumbering cyclops.

This is a videogame, and videogames aren't like your mil-sim fantasies.
Third person in MWO would KILL it. It'd be an enforced mode, due to all the advantages it gives.

Still 3rd person does not work with 160 degree neurohelmet from a compressed 360.

BAD Just BAD.

Here is the sarna history of 360 to 160 compressed viewing.

Quote

Putting Data In
The massive neurohelmets of the succession wars, which sat on the shoulders and inhibited the MechWarriors ability to turn their head, compressed a 360-degree view from external cameras and sensors into a 160-degree HUD display in the helmet with the different firing arcs deliniated and having their own reticules for weapons in those firing arcs. More capable and more modern neurohelmets, such as Clan versions, are smaller and lighter, having large visors and while not requiring the old style HUD display in the helmet. Modern (post 3050) neurohelmets that do not have an internal hud can be modified to display one.
Neurohelmets also have audio systems which generate audible cues, alerting a MechWarrior to threats. Modern Neurohelmets generate these cues in three dimensions, allowing the MechWarrior to quickly locate a threat.
The first Star League did develop some very capable neurohelmets, the best of which were big clunkers used in aerospace fighters. Advanced neurohelmets are capable of providing sensor and balance information from the 'Mechs sensors to the MechWarrior. This "direct neural virtual reality" is very weak, because even the best neurohelmets cannot put enough signal power into the brain to overwhelm the natural biological sensory signals without cooking brain cells. This input limitation is due to the wireless method that neurohelmets use to send information into the brain cells.

I had to play 3pv in MW4 to remain competitive, not because I enjoy 3pv... ;)

Ya I am calling bullsh!t on this.

I've been playing in leagues since 94 starting with netmech demo and kali. I've always used 1st person and have always been competitive, even when people in MW2 used 3rd person.

In MW4 we always locked 1st person as 3rd was a way of cheating really.

Either way 3rd person is horrible and will kill this game.

I mean look at mechassault, and how sh!tacular that was.

So you don't remember being able too look over and around hills giving the 3pv player a situational advantage?

I must question your enormous experience if you missed that bit of MW4... ;)

The only 3rd person view I support is an after battle replay in 3rd person, and possibly a 3rd person view in a training room. But for actual game play in a live environment, never.

Oh i remember it, when we had league fights we always locked it down to 1st person.

Could not do anything in MW2 or MW3, but 4 we could keep 3rd person from happening.

Not all leagues were FFP, the SA of 3pv is greater than 1pv. I stand by my statement.
