Dear OP,

do you have any vid or something for us to discuss uppon? A screenshot of the endscore? Something?

No sir, my mind was blown i rage logged out and came on here to try and vent and be constructive. I ended up running into a wall of stupid. However if i continue to play I will try and at least take screens. I don't have fraps or anything and imo a screen won't be good enough.
Maybe they should test internally?

This reminds me of my MW4 days. In league play, our group (Stimner) took on I believe Comstar who had just been taken over by a former mirc unit. One guy on there team was playing form Australia, and had a massive ping every game we played with him. We could take out there other members without issues. One game when he was out front and we had a load of LRM and Gauss mechs, we see this guy stop and we light him up with everything. We where all good seasoned players on my team, but this mech which was not moving took 0 damage when we fired enough tot ake out multiple mechs. that ambush should have wiped out one or 2 of there guys before they figured out what was happening and instead we did not do a dam thing.

Lag shields been around a long time and unfortunately some teams even in league play would use it to there advantage. Now what I am more interested in is what can be done to prevent this kind of thing where a person is so lagged that they just don't take damage and you end up losing because of what can be called abuse of situation. I realize it sucks for the guys with the lag but at same time should the guys with decent pings be made to be screwed over. Its a rather interesting topic. I mean where do you draw the line on this kind of stuff as its hard to tell someone they can't play because there internt connection is not great. they may not be able to change it. Now others of course inflate pings to get the shield but how do you tell the difference.

And this is why we need localized servers just like BF3 has.

That way admins can enforce ping limits just like every other respectable FPS out there.

With a matchmaking system it is impossible to fairly enforce a ping limit. I mean if you get unlucky and some guy running a crappy DSL connects and is on your team you are penalized through no fault of you own.

This is why matchmaking games fail in my book.

It happens. Last night I ran over to support a fellow pilot against a Catapult. I was too late to save my ally, but found the catapult had 1 leg and no armor on it. Over the next 12 seconds I proceeded to unload 4 volleys of 3xSRM6(A) into the Catapults lower torso, along with a couple volleys of 2x Md Pulse laser. I managed to get the internals from yellow to orange, before I realized I could not hit it and moved on (although I now know why catapults do those short jumps for no apparent reason).
Knowing there is an impenetrable lag shield, I now apply a 15 second rule. If I can't kill or cripple a mech within 15 seconds, I leave it alone, and find a new target, there are people out there much better than I at finding the wandering hit box.

I'm not 100% sure about this one, 300 ping is lower than alot that I've seen, and the awesome shouldn't get a very powerful lag shield, seeing as it's a massive slow mech. I've had two instances of faceroll, one where myself in a jenner, and a friend in an awesome won a 2v8 (Yes, after the rest of our team died with no kills) and another where I won a 1v8 in my centurion.

High latency targets need to be led, even with lasers. However, this causes convergence problems, as the game will make your weapons converge on the terrain beyond the enemy's hitbox, instead of on the enemy, which may lead to the shots missing regardless.

I can't say for sure if it changed during the course of the fighting but some where high on their side from the start like his was but not as high. It was also around that when i died. But i have seen them fluctuate during the course of the game so maybe that is part of it.

I have become okay leading with my weapons. I have many times used my lasers to shoot the air beside a mech in a leading fashion while we spun and continue to. The missile thing though. That mech was coming at me down the street from 740ish to like something under 350 cuz i was backing up no blockage of any kind.

I guess i can't keep defending this with conjecture alone. But i cannto be the only one that has been through this. Maybe someone smarter or more prepared will come forth with the proof needed....

I played a match where a jenner was warping all over due to horrible ping and was pretty hard to hit with anything. Then it stopped for a second and I blew through its rear armor it with one shot from my 2xAC20's and it blew up instantly.

They should just auto kick people over a certain ping. And let them try to get back in as long as their ping is within a acceptable range.

ALot of replies from people in here that clearly have no programming experience nor any experience with netcode.

The OT could absolutely happen with a ping 1/3s long.

Yep, agree with this. Odds are they were even "hitting" him (weapons showing strikes on armor) but the net result to the server was constant whiffage (no actual damage to target).

A 300+ ping? Beginning to wonder if long term high ping should be a boot from the server by the host for MWO. I've see the infamous "blinking" Jenners happen as well, thanks to high 'Mech speed + high ping.
