Eugenics is a mostly discredited science and is on extremely shaky ethical ground for reasons clearly enumerated in Battletech cannon:

• The products of eugenics, when attempting to control a non-physical trait, are not demonstrably superior to people produced in an unregulated state.
  
• Eugenics establishes the concept of "superior" and "inferior" genetics as supposedly scientific truth. This is all but guaranteed to lead to discrimination and maltreatment of "genetic inferiors.

The adoption of eugenics programs and Bloodnames by the Clans is little more than the enshrinement of the warrior caste as de facto nobility.
