Hello!

I recently changed from two AC/2 to two AC/5 weapons and noticed that although they have the same Heat rating (1), its not adding up that way in game.

When I went from at heat efficiency of 1.02 (AC/2s) to heat of 1.22 (AC/5) in the mech lab, I realized that the AC/2s were generating too much heat.

Can a Dev check into this and give a reply?

Also can anyone else verify this is the case as well?

Thanks!

By given stats that is pretty much how it works. They both generate low heat, but the AC2 fires so much faster the minimal heat is generated faster in turn.

If you were to hit every shot the AC2's would do more DPS too.

I agree that the difference in rate of fire probably accounts for what you are seeing.

The accuracy sword cuts both ways, and does so equally. If you land every shot with an AC/5 you do almost as much damage as an AC/2.

not a bug
ac2 and ac5 both generate 1 heat

...per shot

and since the ac2 fires 2 shots per second, while the ac5 fires 1 shot every 1.7 seconds, the ac2 generates more than triple the heat of an ac5 over any given period of time

so you need more heatsinks to offset an ac2 than you do an ac5

so your heat efficiency with an ac5 is better than with an ac2, provided equal # of heatsinks
