Make Option For Torso To Not Twist With The Legs?

We also had the players broken up by groups.
1-25 mission were in one and 26 on up were in their own and could not go into the lower bracket. This too would help out the new players to get to learn how the game plays.

First thank you devs for that great game !
Now on the 3rd person topic:
Don't do it, because it will split the fan base and «dumm» a great game.
Let me submit what i consider a better solution to help people to adjust to the game :
Make the «C» key toggle between 3 modes:
1- ( Beginner mode) : Lock legs with torso: --> mouse turn the mech.
2- ( Intermediate mode) : Make legs follow torso: --> mouse turn the mech with legs following.
3- ( Advance mode) : Center legs with torso: --> Legs and turret move independently.
Always start game with mode 1 unless someone change it in the options menu.
Has a bonus compromise: Add a in cockpit forward looking mini-camera from a in between the legs point of view. (DSTDC : the Don't Stomp The Dog Camera).
I hope it help a bit .
See you all in game.

btt: currently there is the "torso follows feet feature" witch in my eyes
scrambles the snipers (i am a brawler at heart) and favors the circle running mechs.
i don't need to explain why it does hurt snipers. but why do i want a feature that hurts me as a brawler in 2 ways?
why is it currently favoring brawler? because they don't need to adjust their torso at every millisecond. if they are in a perfect circle around a target or a slightly ellipse they got nothing to do except fire their guns and maintain their movement. that is no skill.
when they need to maintain a constant readjustment of the torso to hit a mech it would become skill.
it only helps new players to not "get lost" in the fight.
i cant count the times after a new betakey giveaway that i spectated a player who desperately wanted to turn his torso in one direction but couldn't because he forgot to turn the legs too.
now i spectate the "aim with the legs" type of player...
and hat about sniper? 2x gauss/LL ? i dont have a problem that they would be able to keep the target and evade suppression fire. i have to hide from lrm too so that would be a minor added issue.

Edit: If you wanted to make it easier for the newbies, you would lock torso centered to legs, but wait - we already have a torso center to legs in 'C'.

They have said that this is something they are considering, and believe it or not they have a lot more important things to work on. We need a second key for this and not to remap it.
Would I like to see this? Yes.

Example: you turn left, your torso turn right. Now your speed running left needs you to retarget but you cant do it in a good way because you may still suffer by the 'turn right torso' twist while turning left. At some point it hard brakes because you stop turning. So your mouse controlled torso will get auto-movings anyway.

Just saying.

Edit: nevermind, I misread the OP. I thought he wanted an option where the torso and legs were locked together, so when you turned your legs the torso would rotate with them. Having the torso auto-track it's heading while the legs rotate underneath is not a good idea. Why? Well, besides the fact that people using it may have an advantage, it would be extremely awkward when you turned your legs far enough that the torso could no longer remain locked on a heading as the target reticule would suddenly start to move without you touching the mouse. Not a great control scheme.

It's not a make or break situation, but it would definitely have its uses once you got used to it. Much better accuracy, for one.
When you're turning left and trying to aim to the right, you pretty much have to pause your turning for a second, shoot, and then resume the turn. Otherwise, the reticle is a jittery mess that you're likely to miss with or waste a good portion of laser damage.
I think it would be a fair alternative to enable in the options menu, because having your torso behave this way can make you lose track of your leg facing pretty easily.

Better to learn to use the existing system then simplify it and become cannon fodder.

One of us misunderstood the OP, and I'm not sure which so bare with me.
I don't think he said to disable torso twisting, but rather have your torso keep its heading while the legs turn independently.
As in, currently, if you turn left, the legs drag the torso left and you have to counteract this by moving your mouse right. The alternative is your legs turning left and your torso keeping its target until it reaches its max turning radius.
If that makes sense.
