Oh, don't get me wrong, it has it's uses absolutely. It's just the last weapon in the game I'd think needs a nerf. It is entirely viable, and helpful, right where it is. Doing anything to lower it's capabilities would potentially remove it from common usage.

I just checked. looks like the spider 5D is the new choice for magic man build. faster than commando with max engine, 5 tons more room, 2 energy slots on one arm for potential twin linked large laser, plus one on ct for tag, ecm, AND jumpjets. talk about being an annoying little head popping bug. I can't wait to get the credits and start experimenting :)

I'd agree except that core game mechanics for accuracy and damage in this game are not comparatively dependent on dicerolls. I can see you're also eagerly waiting for interesting things to try, and I can only hope this game successfully gets to that point.

To be fair, AC/2s haven't been changed recently, so the 'problem' brought up by the OP is technically still real. Massed AC/2 isn't exactly a problem, because they don't frontload damage and stacked AC/2s generate a lot of heat.

I have a Cataphract that's kind of fun, 2x AC5s / 2xUAC5s. I usually end up middle to top damage. After reading somewhere on these forums that the AC2 was "better" with the higher RoF I switched to 4xAC2s just to try it out. THEY ARE NOT OP. As a dedicated ballistics mech driver I can say these things suck. I can hit just about anything I can see but the damage on these things is not what I'm used to; my damage dropped considerably after trying them out. Back to AC5s now, carry on.

The OP was actually complaining more about the cockpit shake that got nerfed already... Sooo, yeah...not the same problem.

Good job on making them nerf a fun, useful weapon into the same pile we toss MGs and Flamers you whiners.

MWO is the first Mechwarrior game that has made the AC2 useful. Please don't change that.

I am not saying the AC2 is a great weapon, just that it does have a use, and it never really has before.

I loled. I came across a thread literally seconds ago that was saying the AC2 is useless after this last patch. I ran my AS7D with 2 AC2s this morning and found them satisfying to throw at people, but not much statistically speaking. Low damage, lots of torso twisting makes them all but useless. If you start twisting like a crazy person and run in a single direction you'll be ok. Try to find some cover. It'll be ok. Take a breath.

Too late, they already stealth nerfed it.

It's 1.12 shots a second now, instead of 0.5 when it was actually good.
