Nobody reads the forums. NOBODY. Except morons like us.

And I have played 300 matches in MWO and I just now found out there was a tutorial link in the game.
I still wouldn't have watched it, videos can go suck a fat one.

I know exactly what I am talking about you condescending ***.

The minute they went open beta I saw the tutorial ad plastered across the MWO launcher. Christ, no wonder why the world is so messed up. *breaks face on palm*

The sad side-effect of F2P, reducing the barrier to play to nothing increases the amount of people who will "just have a look" and have no idea what the game actually/or entails

Sometimes it is Frustrating. I consider myself a more experienced gamer when it comes to Mechwarrior, but I suppose I could be lenient to the new guys and just learn to work with them. I think its a thing that over time people will become more experienced and then we'll start working together better. Maybe thats why it'll be nice once we can start playing matches as a group of 4 friends.

Not everyone is a hardcore pwnz0r gamer like you.

A good game eases casuals in. MWO just throws them out to the sharks with a knife and be done with em.

We gave them a knife?

awww cmon have a little understanding for the OP. I consider myself a casual gamer and while MWO was downloading I accustomed myself to the game watching some videos on youtube to get the hang.

in my first match i didn´t have to ask how to group **** or shoot my mates to see if the left mouse button is really working. so wtf are these clueless morons ???

Maybe let alone children an age of 6 years or so. I can´t imagine, the stupidness is staggering. but not only that, some people seem to have absolutely no hand-eye coordination. they really shoot the ******* snow when a 100ton Atlas is standing right before them ;)
You bring an enemy to them for support ? they wander of go see the map or something :)

I love the game. What frustrates me is so many players that seem to be completely clueless. It's not like first person shooters are a new thing. Yet every game players can't figure basic things out, like red means bad guy or if you put the crosshair on the target you might hit them. Or even how to move. The UI and map are pretty standard and anyone coming from any other FPS should have no problems understanding the the HUD and even if they do they should pick it up pretty fast. Yet game after game, its the same thing. Friendly fire at start. Nobody reading the chat etc.. My last match I had someone who didn't even know there were teams. I have been playing FPS games for many years and I have never encountered the amount players that seem to have no clue and no ability to get one. I think that more then anything is ruining the ability to pug.

I understand your point,

let us both have a short look on how playing MWO is down the line:

1 match is at max 15 minutes. How many matches do you make when your launching MWO? Like me between 10 and 20? Ok...now the honest part...in how many of those 20 matches are you giving 100%, using the keyboard to advise everyone in the group and take the stress of coordinating 7 unknown people into a victory?

1 or 2 out of those 20? Same here.

So, I am not saying that I'm drooling around in the other matches, its just that I'm not talking to everyone and not "feeling responsible" for everyone.

So..if you wanna win and move as a team...talk to your 7 man as a team, yes..YOU...noone else. If you do this on every match and still have people running around like chicken, then you can complain. But you would be suprised how many PUG'S just wait for someone in team to take lead and how glad they are to assist...even if they dont answer.

To be honest, the 7 guys are actually thinking the same about you - its like this most of the time.

To the condescending ***** who started this thread, if you want to brag about how good you are at a video game, get a life. I am getting tired of the overgrown children complaining because people don't waste enough of their lives to be 'hardcore' gamers... which is really code for "I live in my mother's basement and couldn't hope to defend myself or others in real life against a rabid flea." ....Grow a pair, enlist, actually fire a real weapon, put lead on target... then come talk to me about how bad everyone else sucks... because if I took you to the range, or God forbid a combat zone, your panzy *** would melt. I don't usually comment on these, but I enjoy Mechwarrior more than most games, grew up playing 3 and 4... and do not care to see the nerd rage 12 year olds take it over like other 'FPS'. Disgusting civies....

Nitra is kinda a ****, but he has a point. This game is not rocket science.. not even close. Millions figure out how to play minecraft, there's no in game tutorial for that. Minecraft is about 100 times more complicated than this game. My 11 year old can not only play minecraft but sets up his own custom servers. Is he a genius? No. He can just google stuff and follow instructions. People don't use their brains. You know anyone who is playing MWO knows how to use the internet, which means they know how to find the information they need. They just don't. They're lazy.

It's frustrating for people that enjoy puging sometimes. I hate ALWAYS having 3x more damage and more kills than anyone on my team. I'm not even a good player, not even close.

I hope you aren't serious dude. This dude isn't bragging, he's just frustrated. This game has nothing to do with real life.

not sure if folk realize this but the vast majority of current gamers are brought up with a diet of consoles and fps. Most which hold the players hand gently squeezing time and money out of them . Having to look up the forums, do a tutorial on their own accord and even reading is pretty much beyond this current generation of ADD users.

This is a PC game. To download this game you have to find the website. If you are capable of that, you are capable of pretty much figuring out anything else. When I started I died about 4 times. Decided I needed help. Googled help. Now I have a positive k/d with about 10/40 win/loss, because I PUG. Yes the game badly needs a tutorial, but come on... these people shouldn't be THAT bad.

I think the lag still has something to do with it... at a friends house recently and I died, but watching through his mech he was shooting behind the enemy on my screen and dead on on his. He's new to MWO, but after I told him he was hitting no problem. As of last patch lag leading has diminished imo, but it's still there.

Yeah, exactly. I think that's the point the OP is trying to get across. It's sad, really.

You grew up playing 3 and 4. Mechwarrior 3 came out in 1999, 13 years ago.
You grew up quick.

It's not that the game is difficult to learn, it's not.
Hell, when i was younger games came with instruction books the size of telephone directories, yet i don't know anyone who read them before playing the game. IMO 90% of the things in any game are just common sense. The instructions are just to show you which keys do what (which is included in MWO when you load up the game, under the tutorial videos.)

While i admit that i was a long-time player of BF2 i have to say that i sucked at it....really bad. I was always the worst player on my team and often worse than everyone in the game. Then, through trying out other fps games i figured out why. Those games catered to the run-and-gun players. You know the ones. Spawn, run into the enemy doing as much damage as you can, die, respawn, repeat. I am a more tactical player who considers not dieing as something which should be paramount in any game.

So anyway, now i play MWO. I PUG 100%, and at first i couldn't understand why i nearly always got the best damage/xp in my teams, and sometimes even better than half the other team when mine lost. Then i remembered the earlier fps games i played. It seems in MWO i am being rewarded for being tactical, staying alive, and therefore doing more damage.

But the majority of that success doesn't come from any kind of military training (which i don't have), or past experiences with fps games. It's just common sense, which unfortunately many players don't seem to have. The amount of times i've told players to stay out of the open areas (water on Forest Colony) and they just wander out there, guns blazing, then wonder why they died is just mindnumbing.

Being a player of fps games isn't a factor either. My wife was recently watching me play MWO and out of the blue said "Can i have a go?" Now, she has never played or even shown any interest in fps type games and i thought she'd play a match, get confused, and not bother with it anymore.
Two weeks later she's running around in her custom Atlas doing better than many of the playerbase that i've seen (Oh, i've been playing since a month or two before OB)

So to the OP, i get exactly what you mean.
And to those who say things like "I just found out there's a tutorial, but i'm not going to use it" please find another hobby.

I don't think anyone has ever earned my respect with a single post on a game forum. You have given me a little more faith in the human race (which atm is practically zero ;) )
Thank you.
