You Sir,

I gladly train to fight and kill the enemies of the United States of America, that doesn't mean I have to respect some D*bag lard *** that wants to make fun of people that don't spend as much time as him playing a VIDEO GAME. He can go suck a fat one, and so can you. Meanwhile, I pray every day for a chance to put my *** on the line 'defend' his freedom to be a lard ***....

1) Map: The minimap is very confusing. The way the mechs and names are displayed is all but optimal. The minimap on the bottom of the screen points in a different direction than the minimap you can access with "b". I also had to look a long time at the map to identify who and where I was. All that adds up to make you feel pretty much lost out there.
2) Movement: The movement is also different compared to other fps games. Usually you change direction by using the mouse. In MWO using the mouse only turns your torso. To actually change the direction of your mech you have to use "A" and "D" (what would be strafing in other games).
Once you are at full speed you stay at full speed until you hit the brakes. That is also a point you have to have in mind when you come from another game. You actually have to play a couple of games in a row so you can adjust to the new movement, don't bump into walls with fullspeed and get stuck.
3) Aiming: When I am playing Quake or something like that I just aim with the mouse crosshair. In MWO I was suddenly confronted with 2 crosshairs. It took me a while to figure out when to use which. Since you are playing with a trial mech you don't hang around in the mechlab and you don't get to know your mech. Where are the weapons attached (torso or arms)? But to aim correctly you should be aware of your mechs configuration. So that's quite a newbie blocker, too. I see that confusion quite a lot when spectating other players after I'm dead.
4) Shooting: There is no way for a new player to get used to the weapon systems of his mech. He has to throw himself in his first 8vs8 battle without any knowledge or weapon configuration. When I played my first game I wondered why I only did alpha strikes when hitting the left mouse button (back then there wasn't even a tutorial video). It took me 3 matches to finally get my weapons set up the way I wanted it (and I even had help with that lol). 3 matches I couldn't do anything. 3 matches I put my team down by one assault mech. Why the hell is there no way to configure the weapon setup in the lab or in a tutorial mission?
5) Weapon specifics: You can see this very often. Newbies don't know that for example lrm have a minimum range. They are trying to headshot you from 5m with their lrms. I didn't know this either back then. This is just a default win for the other player.
These are a few of the difficulties I had when I started with MWO. Luckily I had a mentor who explained all that to me and showed me how to bahave on the battlefield. After I got the basics he also showed me some tricks and told me the weakspots of my enemies. So my learning curve was quite well. Imagining the frustration if I had to find out all that stuff on my own while getting roflstomped 50 games in a row, I guess that could have drove me away from the game.
You can't blame newbies for being new and unexperienced. What this game needs is some kind of tutorial mission(s).

I respect anyone who contributes to society. That can be the guy washing your car, to working at a store, to building roads. I think the whole "Have you served?" crap is total B.S. Both OP and you have something in common. You both think you're better than other people, but for different reasons.

I expect nothing from PGI though. I'm pretty much used to doing more damage than the rest of my team combined by now.

Actually, the point is too many gamers like you act like entitled azzes, and want everything handed to you, then complain at the thought of actually reading the instructions. You are probably the one who complains when pulled over that YOU DIDN'T KNOW you were breaking any laws, even when common sense (which isn't) and the example of all your fellow drivers (or gamers in this instance) was telling you otherwise.
In other words, if you are too lazy to look stuff up, that's your fault, your problem, and you don't belong on the road (in the game) with those who do.

This, ladies and gentleman, is a grunt.
You can tell by the primitive way of communication, and the inability to realize his place in society.

Your making it worse soldier!
Stop it now! From bare stupidity your getting into people and kids on this forum thinking you might actually be speaking for all US Soldiers. If you got an oppinion, that's your God givin right, and most of us actually wear a uniform exactly for that - so everyone can express his/her oppinions without fear.
I do understand that you want to communicate, but use your uniform one more time to underline and express your oppinions in a public forum that is actually read by kids and I promise you I'll put you to attention for 48 hours at the entrance of wallmarkt in Houston with a sign reading "I hate civies and I keep telling it your kids in public online forums" around your neck.
Lets see how long you can proudly hold the line Soldier.
AND YES....wearing your uniform means to pay respect to EVERY civilians point of view. If in doubt, ask your supperior.

It doesn't matter how good or bad their gunnery and piloting are; if they're not going to play a team-oriented game as an actual team, then they will lose most matches and will not enjoy the game at all.
Same for anyone else whom has to play alongside them.

So. How are those anger management classes going? Seriously dude. It's been rare for me to see someone who can convey contempt for others so well with the printed word. I could almost see you, standing in front of me, frothing at the mouth. Take a chill pill. Try to be nice to someone, for a change. It's not that difficult. BTW. I also served in the military, and I find your attitude disgraceful.

My contempt is directed at this one particular person, and his 'hardcore' gamer ilk, and find me 'disgraceful' if you want, but I follow orders, I do my job, I do it well, and I don't need anger management, I need a rifle, a KA-Bar and a *ing deployment.
